I've seen this in several posts... what does that mean? Does that mean no carbs at all or something?

  • not at all - carbs are an important part of any diet. eating clean basically means eating whole, unprocessed foods. i don't know if there is an official definition but that's my understanding anyway. make sure all your grains are whole grains (and even better, sprouted!). eat organic fruit and nuts, lean organic meats (and preferably local and grass-fed) and LOTS of veggies. so as opposed to buying a sugar-laden protein bar full of chemicals and synthesized preservatives, eat a handful of almonds instead. or instead of heating up a frozen Lean Cuisine in the microwave for dinner, make some brown rice and stir fried broccoli yourself, keeping the ingredient list simple and natural. basically keep foods as close to their natural form as you can. usually cooking from scratch all the time is necessary if you want to eat "clean," you'd want to avoid most packaged foods. it's time consuming but worth it!

Thank you so much for that explanation!!!! I'm good at making things from scratch at home for dinner and stuff, it's just the lunchtime that gets me--- I get the Healthy Choice/Lean Cuisines all the time! :) I'm starting to get on a kick with fruits and vegetables, so it seems like with a few adjustments, I'll be on my way! Thanks so much for that!
