Transitioning to healthy eating...

One of the biggest road blocks from me starting down this journey was the idea of giving up all of my favorite foods and eating like a rabbit. The idea of making a series of substitutions on things that I actually like was about as appealing as intentionally going to a bad restaraunt to eat where I know that everything is going to taste "off".

What has helped me is actually taking healthy foods and eating them in a way that accentuates their actual flavors. Things like tortilla soup, roasted parsnips, leaner cuts of meats, beans with various seasonings, adding aromatics to vegatable medlies.

Eating like that will actually pull me through.

At the times that I chose to indulge, I eat the real mccoy. If I want a chocolate chip cookie, I will eat an old fashioned chocolate chip cookie, not one made with soy or a bunch of substituted products that is suppose to taste 'pretty much' like the real thing.

Is there a downside to this philosophy?
