Penne With Lemon Cream Sauce and Peas
Made this sauce for myself, but can be multiplied easily for families...
1.5 tbsp Brummel and Brown
2 tsp Minced Garlic
1 tbsp whole wheat flour
1/2c chicken stock/broth
2 tbsp Half and Half
1 package Trader Joe's Just pasta frozen penne (in the large bag there are two smaller bags, I used one of those)
1/3c frozen peas
1/4tsp Lemon Pepper Seasoning
2 tbsp Parmesan cheese
In a high sided skillet melt the butter over medium heat. Saute the garlic until heated through and then whisk in the flour continuously until the raw flavor is cooked off. Add the chicken stock and half and half until thickened. Reduce heat to low and add frozen pasta and peas. Cover and stir occasionally until heated through. Stir in the seasoning, plate and top with Parmesan.
Note: I would have made this substituting lemon zest and pepper for the Seasoning, but I had no fresh lemons. If you use the lemon zest add it in with the garlic to get more flavor!
