Maintaining weight

I reached my goal (yay!) and now just want to maintain my current weight. MFP has allotted me 1790 cals per day with my workout cals on top of that. Which is a HUGE difference from where I was eating (1200-1300/day). Have you found a certain daily amount that has helped you maintain more so than another? Did you follow MFP's suggested caloric intake for maintaining or do your own thing? I don't want to get out of control with these extra calories but I want to enjoy the freedom a little bit! :)
