The slow boat to China!
I should be cleaning my house, but I just wanted to say a few things first. Although I've never had an eating disorder I've spent all my life fighting body image and self confidence issues. Even when I was at a normal weight, I looked in the mirror and saw fat, ugly, disgusting, nothing. Nobody could convince me otherwise.
Then, about a month ago, I woke up feeling that something had changed. I didn't open my eyes with the same 'Move, Jess! You have GOT to lose some weight you disgusting cow!' I got up and I simply decided to treat myself better. I started to get organized. Not because I want to be skinny, not because I want people to applaud my efforts, not because I want to fit into those jeans but simply because I DO like myself.
First of all, I shed my own personal myth about weight loss being some kind of tortuous, painful journey with a mega prize at the end. I realized, there is no prize at the end. I've already started with the prize: me. So, there's no sense getting all worked up and frustrated with the breathless feeling of some kind of cosmic clock ticking. There is no clock!
Then I realized the truth of the matter -- I am an artist and I'm working on my greatest masterpiece: myself! And like any great artist, I need to take the time to work on my piece, love it, develop it and make it as perfect as possible -- no matter how long it takes.
I posted recently that I'm the turtle pushing the slow boat to China. And it's true! Compared to others, my 'only' 6lb weight loss in a month is slow progress, but it is progess, MY progress. You know, I will get to China eventually, but I'm definitely going to enjoy the ride in the meanwhile!:flowerforyou:

A 6 pound loss in a month is nothing to sneeze at, and those who tell you otherwise, well...I won't mention what should be done/said to them. You're doing a great job! And more importantly you're finding a routine and a lifestyle that works for you. This isn't a sprint, it's most definitely a marathon. Keep up the great work!0

AGREED!!!! And that's why I think "it's" working for me this time. I am losing weight because I'm not focusing on losing weight. I love the analogy, I'm working on my masterpiece!!0

So wise!!! I love this insight... this really isn't a race, everything isn't going to magically change one day, there is no end... it's just the way we live.
You're awesome! Thank you.0
