Hey guys, my weight loss goal is approaching me in a month and I put myself on a deadline to weigh 120 by May 14th but I am pushing it to June 1st so I can have an extra few weeks. So, I was wondering, do you have any suggestions on how to lose 8 pounds in a month or less? I want to do it the right way and eat at least 1200 a day. I am 5'2 and want to be 120 in around 4 weeks but I do not have a ton of time to exercise. Would you recommend a high protein diet instead of carbs?

8 lbs per month is more than suggested by the experts. The reason is because you can do harm to your body. Plus, if you lose only 1 pound per week you're more likely to keep it off forever. Given your body weigh and where you're going (meaning you're not 300 pounds right now) you should probably stick to the normal MFP plan. Goals are good, but a low carb diet will hurt your kidneys over long term.

Okay thank you. Thats what I was looking for. I figured something like that and a low carb does not seem like its something I could do for a lifetime, its unrealistic. Thank you very much!

I would maybe suggest something that you would be able to stick to when the 8lbs are gone so you don't gain it back. I took a look at just the last couple of days of your diary, are you on a low carb diet already? You're diary settings look like you want to be on a low carb diet, but just can't seem to get yourself to do it.
I use a 'LOWER carb' diet not LOW carb. I try to keep my carbs around 90-100g/day and most daysa I can do it and some days I can't. I think my settings are se t at 30% carbs, 40% protien and 20% fat...I think lol. I've been having sucess with that :)

You just need to to find somthing that you can live with, otherwise you'll lose the eight then gain it back if you start eating alot of carbs again all at once.

You're welcome. You're doing awesome, btw. Just keep up what you're doing. Remember, diets don't work because once you stop your body goes out of the shock it was in and you gain it all back fast.

tabi26, your comment makes me laugh. Your completely right, I changed it to a low carb but I have not been serious about it. Two things I think are challenging for me and the low carb at this point, I am at college and access to healthy food is rare especially low carbs. Second, I have been a vegetarian for a few years and I am slowly working into it but its a big change from what I am used to. I think I may try your percentages they seem to be pretty proportional and realistic. Thank you

Don't give up carbs. They are an important part of your diet. They're only trouble when you eat the wrong types and too many. I'd recommend a vegetarian diet. It's worked really well for me in the past.
