This may be a silly question, but here goes... Who would I go to to look at my feet and help me find the right shoe, inserts, etc.? A podiatrist? We live in a small town and I don't trust Big 5 to give me the accurate info. I'm doing Turbo Fire now and have really bumped up the plyometrics and my feet need help! Thanks in advance!

You first stop should probs be a shoe store - not a chain though, a local type business that specializes in athletic shoes. A good one will look at your feet and ask you what you plan to do in the shoes, bring you the ones that will fit all those needs and let you try them all on and run/walk/jump around in them.0

THat depends. What is wrong with your feet? WHat makes you think you need a specialist? Just curious.
otherwise, any pair of good atheletic cross trainers should do the trick --- unless of course you have a medical condition that warrants inserts?0 -
Not silly at all. good shoes = no back pain after all!
Go to a small family owned shoe store. You will get the care you need.0 -

This ^ plus they will give you a 30 day money back guarantee. My local running stores let you actually try the shoes for 30 days and if you don't like them or they hurt your feet you can bring them back.0 -
I've heard the Running Room does this. I don't know if that's just a Canadian place or not though.0

Thank you all so much for the help! We don't have a running store here. : ( The closest is 3 hours away but we frequently travel to Twin Falls or Reno for shopping so I will be looking one up the next time we go.
The shoes I have now aren't great. I can feel my feet slide around and my shins are slowly starting to get sore and feel bruised.
Again the advice is much appreciated!0 -
My husband got his inserts & feet checked out by our chiropractor.0

When I started running I went to see my podiatrist because I have PF. He said what many here have advised, a good fitting is the most important thing; go to a good retail athletic shoe store that will fit you, let you try the shoes on a treadmill or just around the store, and who can advise you on pronation and such by observing you in the shoes. My podiatrist is a runner himself, and he emphasized that a proper professional fitting is key. PS: I require inserts due to my PF and I have to try on shoes with my own inserts in them. This has never caused any difficulty for me at any store.0
