Need some advice on a treadmill issue...

So I acquired a used treadmill. I am thrilled because it allows me to work out in my basement which is easier than getting ready and going to the gym, and with my kids watching TV or just there with me so they don't feel like "Mom's gone again". Anyway, my issue is that the display on the treadmill does not work correctly. The only thing that works is the timer. I can adjust the speed, and I gauge it by how fast I can/want to go, but I can't see how fast I am really going or how far I have gone. Any thoughts on how I could in some way figure out how far I am going in a workout? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

there are some foot pod devices that work on treadmills and will track your distance and pace for you. I don't know of any brands or versions off the top of my head but I'm sure a little googling will produce some results. Good luck!

...use a HRM to time your work outs....or buy a pedometer.

I agree with the HRM! I use an HRM on my treadmill. It's more accurate than my treadmill reading. I don't get distance, but time and calories burned are all I care to track anyway.
