Before MFP, what diets did you try?

I was just thinking the other day that about a year or so ago, I tried Dr Seigel's Cookie Diet. LOL, Yes, I did. Not once but twice I bought these expensive-*kitten* muffin/cookies from GNC. I saw it on tv and thought I could do that. I think I lost at the most four pounds, but that wan't enough for how expensive the cookies were. Plus, I can't live on chocolate cookies alone no matter how much I like chocolate. I also tried Body for life: too restricting for me, and Dr. Ian's 4 day diet: all the beans and salad left me feeling bloated and unhappy. Oh and last summer was the 6 week body makeover. This really wasn't a bad product, but I didn't really learn a lot from it or how to really work it. I may try it again at some point now that I've learned so much from you guys and MFP.

So I thought it would be a fun Friday topic to ask what diets you're tried, crazy or not?

Oh boy. The list is long:
    - Starvation. Seriously - fasting for up to a week at a time.
    - The grapefruit diet
    - The cabbage soup diet
    - Weight watcher's
    - Slim Fast
    - Nutri system
    - The liquid diet Oprah went on, Opti-fast I think
    - The cookie diet
    - Biggest Loser
    - And my all time favorite for crazy: the lemon-water and chicken broth diet.

I've battled with these off and on for so long I think I've tried everything. The 3 day diet lose 10lbs in 3 days, The cabbage soup diet hated it! The do it myself diet where I made up my own rules needless to say that didn't help! So glad I found this site!

Oh boy lol I have dieted a lot in my past.
    Skinny Girl Diet
    Grapefruit Diet
    Cabbage Soup Diet
    ABC diet
    Large Breakfast Diet
    Upday downday diet
    2-4-6-8 but rather 4-6-8-10
    Negative calorie diet

I think that might be all of them. I have done all of these more than once too.

MFP is not a diet. It is a food/exercise tracking tool similar to many others. The "diet" is yours alone.

Oh yeah...I tried WW a couple of years ago. I lost all of 3 lbs. in their 16-week program. The most valuable part of it was having to track everything I eat, so MFP is a great substitute, and you can't beat the price, right?

Too many to count but the ones that stick out the most were:

    The New Beverly Hills Diet
    Slim Fast
    Nutri System
    Weight Watchers
I went and got shots for a while - some vitamin
    Metabolife (bad, I know now)
Lapband surgery (had to be removed after 4 months it slipped)

    Ugh! Story of my life...

Oh, man... I feel like I've tried way too many diets over the years. These include, but are not limited to (because I'm sure I'm forgetting some):

    -Nutrisystem
-Diet Pills (OxyElite Pro, Alli, etc)
    -Slimfast
    -"Melt it Off" Diet Plan
-Some kind of magical diet tea
    -Eating only salad

Yeah... none of those things were terribly good for me. I actually had a decent amount of success on Nutrisystem, but it as expensive as anything and as soon as I started eating normally again, I gained everything back because all I had learned was how to eat food from a box, not how to eat to lose weight.

 MFP... it really is a lifestyle change, not just a diet.

I tried those shakes before but didn't last long because they are NASTY!! ha ha. I still use South Beach Diet. I use it more as a guideline but it's worked for me in the past and it's working now :) along with MFP!!!

Never tried diets. I just never ate. When I turned 38 the 'not eating all day' was making me gain weight rather than lose more weight because when I did eat it was all the wrong foods.

When I started eating several meals a day (and counting the calories) and started drinking water and eating fruits and veggies I started losing and am holding at 120-123. Thank you MFP.
