Hello!

I just joined MFP on Monday and love it. I am supposed to be eating 1200 calories a day, which has been tough. On average I think I've eaten about 1500 per day: however, I did manage to lose 3lbs. What are some tips you use to help stay within your calorie range? I'm worried that I've start out (fairly) good and will slowly start "forgetting" to log my meals, etc. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I really like the 90 calorie Fiber One bars. They really help me get through the day. I did really well when I had a big box of them, but since I've been out for a few weeks, I've noticed a horrible difference.

Anyway, that's one thing that helps me... they taste good, keep you feeling full for longer, but there you gotta watch how many you eat or... :noway: :blushing:

i log breakfast and lunch the night before and try really hard to stick with it... then you know what you have calorie-wise for dinner. AND remember that any cardio workout exercise gets added back to your calories. so if you're 1500 everyday, just make sure you get 30-35 min of elliptical or treadmill time in to get those 300 cal :) good luck!

lots of veggies, choose lean meats, fruit, and whole grains. Cut out the processed and fast foods and you can do it!

Exercise and then you can eat more...sometimes after a long run I think, woo hoo! I get to eat so much today! :) Is that a dachshund puppy on your profile pic? Very cute! I have one at home....Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I don't have too much trouble staying within my allotted calories, unless I skip a workout, because I am very concious (probably overally concious) about my intake. I find that substituting lower calorie foods (buying fat free or reduced calorie versions) is still satisfying and helps lower my caloric intake. Losing weight takes a lifestyle change, so if you start out by changing your mindset, soon you will find it easier to stay within your estimated daily caloric intake. 1200 calories is usually bare minimum, if you are exercising, then your metabolism is increasing and you'll need to feed yourself! Just stay healthy and good luck!

Thanks guys! I like the idea about logging breakfast and lunch the night before. My downfall usually comes once I get home from work.

@shellyrenee629 My dog is actually a "Chiweenie" a mix between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund :-)
