I've been reading things saying that Beef jerky makes a good healthy snack because it has high protein content but I imagine it would have a high sodium content and probably isnt that good really. What are everyones thoughts?

I love my jerky... but it has to be MY jerky....
here's the recipe that I started with

Home-made you can control the sodium that goes into it :)

I do tend to stick with "simply" jerky though which is just the meat sliced thin and dried, I'm not that big a fan of sauces and marinades, though I am on a honey and chipotle kick... hmmm I taste some new jerky coming soon.
Plus the store-bought jerky is about $5 for an 80 gram bag here, while I can pay that per pound for the meat that I use to make my own.
According to the database here round steak if 85mg of sodium for a 3 oz portion, obviously that's the piece before drying :)

True and true. I has a lot of protein and a lot of sodium. May not be the best choice for a snack for everyone. But if you don't have a problem with sodium and you like it, go for it!
