While research about hookah smoking is still emerging, evidence shows that it poses many dangers:
Hookah smoke contains high levels of toxic compounds, including tar, carbon monoxide, heavy metals and cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens). In fact, hookah smokers are exposed to more carbon monoxide and smoke than are cigarette smokers.
As with cigarette smoking, hookah smoking is linked to lung and oral cancers, heart disease and other serious illnesses.
Hookah smoking delivers about the same amount of nicotine as cigarette smoking does, possibly leading to tobacco dependence.
Hookah smoke poses dangers associated with secondhand smoke.
Hookah smoking by pregnant women can result in low birth weight babies.
Hookah pipes used in hookah bars and cafes may not be cleaned properly, risking the spread of infectious diseases.

I don't smoke cigarettes, but I do occasionally smoke hookah. I don't inhale, though, so I see significantly less risk in it... I can feel it if I've been accidentally inhaling too much.
Maybe not the information you're looking for, but I think if you can get a handle on not really inhaling it... then it can't be as bad for you!0 -

Anything combustable has tar. It has much less than cigarettes because the tobacco is basically roasting instead of burning up, and also because the smoke is filtered through water, but 0% has got to be an exaggeration.
Its tobacco, and tobacco is horrible for you, it always has been, and it always will be. The benefit in smoking hookah isn't a health benefit, its more of a comfort benefit. Because of the flavor and the filtration combination, the smoke is cooler and smoother and doesn't rip up your throat and bronchial tubes. Also, there's actually more nicotine in hookah than in a cigarette, and the nicotine is more readily available to your body. So when you get that head change from hookah- that's actually your brain's chemical receptors rejecting the nicotine because its at a level that interferes with other functions.
That sounds bad, and it kind of is, but it has the hidden benefit of being less addictive. Because it has so much nicotine, your body rejects it as a poison instead of becoming dependent on it. That said, if you're already addicted to cigarettes, smoking hookah is not going to change that.0 -
I used Snus to get off cigarettes....I know I traded one form of nicotine for another. I like snus alot better than cigs. Especially not inhaling any smoke into my lungs. I smoked for 30 plus years. My plan is to get off the snus when I have six months of not smoking done which will be in July. The snus is discreet and there are some really good brands out there. Swedish Snus is the best and not so sweet like US snus. If you use a US snus Skoal is the best and closest to Swedish. Obviously the problem is the addiction to Nicotine and you did the right thing giving up the cigarettes to begin with. Good luck on your Journey.0
