Hi!
How long does it take to switch back and forth between catabolic and anabolic states and back again? Minutes? Hours? Days? Weeks?

Just had a look on Wiki, good luck with getting a comprehensive and simple answer on that one.
I think it would be fair to say that both happen all the time, given the right circumstance.
The body is in a cycle of decay and rebuilding at all times, provided the materials for the job are available. Clever things these bodies.0 -
from my understanding you're almost always in an anabolic state as long as you're eating regularly and frequently (especially protein). the only times you'll be in a real catabolic state is after an intense 90+ minute workout, or after not eating for a long period of time.
i'd assume that once your body enters a catabolic state, eating an adequate amount should bring it out of that. but i'm not positive so don't hold me to that part :P0
