Polar FT4 Bronze-Opinions

I just started doing Insanity this week and would really like to have an accurate reading of calories burned so I am going to buy a heart rate monitor. After reading lots of reviews I know that Polar is the brand I will buy. I have found some reasonable prices on an FT4 womens but the only color for womens that I find are bronze. Does anyone have this one? I know it sounds silly, but Im not sure if I like that color, as I thought I could wear it as a watch too. Each websites image of this thing is different so it's hard to tell exactly what it looks like. If you have it, do you like it? I know its not supposed to be a fashion statement, but I also dont want something that sticks out like a sore thumb when I wear it! Looked at the FT7, but the prices are higher and I dont know I need to spend the extra, for what I am using it for. Any advise would be appreciated.

I have the "bronze". Really it's more of a tan or light brown, I say, though my nine year old son says it's "orange". It works really well, and I don't mind wearing it to the gym because that's what it's for, but I don't think of it as a fashion accessory.0

I have the men's FT4 and my wife kept borrowing it and wished they made it in pink. I got her a Suunto M2 that she loves.0

I like it. I don't really wear it as a watch because it is bulky for me as a watch. I am not sure I would even really call it bronze. The band looks like a jelly plastic almost and it is a lighter shade of brown and then there is a thin band that runs through the middle that is the darker brown..The jelly plastic looking part is where I would see a bit of bronze but it isn't tacky or ugly by any means. I can try to take a picture and post if you want then it isn't touched up in any way.0

I have the same one. I was like you and wanted to be able to wear it as a watch also. I was disappointed in the color, but I only wear it to the gym...so I don't really mind it. I'll just have to find a different watch for every day use.0

I have the bronze. It's OK. Not my fav. The photos do NOT show the correct color. Not a metallic bronze like I hoped, a dull, orangey rusty color.
You could also consider buying then mens silver/black option.
It's just a littler bigger. The Polar asks for your gender and all that when you set it up, so the "male or female" doesn't really matter.
I love my FT4 though
Best $70 I ever spent LOL

^^ Click on that link and click the photo where it shows it in the box and that kinda gives a more accurate idea of the color.0 -

Thank you so much for all the replies, thats what I love about MFP, everyone here is willing to help. The picture was great, thanks for taking the time to do that. I think that I will go with the FT4, I have a credit for a pair of shoes I returned to Zappos and with that will only have to pay an extra 35, so even though in the long run I have already spent 85, that money is already gone so it wont hurt as bad! LOL! Now that decision is made, I need to try to get through the weekend without going too overboard! If there had not been any weekends between now and Jan I would have probably already have reached my goal of losing 20 pounds or more! I sabatoge all the progress I had made during the week with bad choices on the weekends! Its like 2 steps forward one step back each week, but oh well, thats life we have to live a little too! Thanks again, have a great weekend!0

There is no "womens" vs "men's" FT4 - In fact, I bought the FT4 yesterday in silver. I confirmed twice with the employees that there wasn't a difference between the two and sure enough when I got home and configured it, the HRM asked if I was a male or female during setup.
There ya go0 -

I think it is the way it is packaged as the "mens" is a different colour with a man on it and the bronze has the woman. I think the bronze one is a little lighter too.0
