Omiron body fat tester

When setting up the tester, it calls for either "Normal" or "Athlete." According to the manual I would qualify as an athlete due to the amount of exercise I get every week. HOWEVER, if I am considered an athlete we maybe want to revisit and redefine the meaning. At 377 pounds and a bit fluffy, there is absolutely NO WAY I am an athlete.

There is a difference in the read out, with the Athlete setting getting a lower Body fat percentage than the Normal setting. I guess I need to know if I should follow the manual guidelines here, or go with the truth?.

they ask if you're an athlete because athletes have more muscle mass so with that in mind you should probably do normal

    I set mine on normal.
It may not really matter because the accuracy of a specific number is suspect.
What I hope to see is whatever number change over time.

I've not really been using mine effectively, but I always use:
    beam scales for accurate weight
polar heart rate monitor for exercise calories
    good kitchen scale for quantities

Yes, I suspect that with the +/- 5% accuracy I should probably just focus on the direction the numbers are trending and not the actual number. When I get to my 1 year I will have a real fat % test done and see where we are at that time.
