Did you stick through Lent?

I gave up baked goods, fast food and candy for Lent. I'm pleased to be able to stay that I didn't give in at all. Now that Lent is over, who is sticking to their good habits? I certainly am going to try my hardest. I made my annual butter cut-out cookies with buttercream frosting and this is the first year I have no desire to eat any! I have a house full of candy (given to us by "well-meaning" relatives and I have absolutely no desire to eat any of it.
I've been giving up these things for the past 9+ years during Lent, only to fall into my bad, old habits. This year is going to be different. I found MFP and realized just how many calories I was consuming daily. Obscene!!!

Strangely I thought I was being a bit of a pansy when I said I was giving up my "poor me victim to my schedule/circumstances" attitude for Lent this year, but I just couldn't think of anything specific. What that's done for me is the following...I have continued to have success with logging my food and eating healthier (I started MFP on January 27th), I started fitting in exercise when I can without sacrificing major time with my family as well as still getting things done around the house, I signed up for a 5k which I am slowly training for...I am just hoping to finish it! So anyhow, I did stick to it and none of it felt all that difficult, so I fully plan to keep it up because it was a huge part of making this a lifestyle change as opposed to just weight loss for me0

I gave up sodas. It has been very hard some of the time, but other days not even a thought to it. I do so want to stop drinking them for good, or at least just once a month or so. I did cheat and had a sip about half way through lent and it was actually "not" good. Tasted yuck! So that is a good sign.
Good luck to you too!0 -
whoohooo.................see if you give something up long enough, you will no longer crave. I preach this passionately! I have not had fast food (nor my family) in 7 months. No pasta, no bread, no candy, no baked goods. None of it bothers me and I cannot even begin to describe how well I feel mentally and physically. I used to thing people who ate like this were freaks, but I am so sorry for ever thinking that. I read my labels, nutritional value and ingredients and I want to know what my kids are eating.
Keep up the great work. Keep doing without and you will not even care again about that stuff. Next time instead of making those cookies and feeding them to other people, make something you can eat, so that other people will eat healthy as well. Spread the joy.0 -
