Ok. So I felt really bad when I received a reminder email from myfitnesspal to continue to keep my food diary and log in my calories. Yeah, I slipped big time, but someone tell me what was I suppose to do? I have had 6 birthdays in my family since July and yes, everyone one of them had huge cakes and all the great, delicious foods I was NOT suppose to eat. But I'm back now and committed to my goals. I was doing really great, until "attack of the birthdays."
But you know, while I'm talking to you, one thing I found was hard for me was fighting the "urge to splurge." I would feel like since I had done really good with my calories and exercise, that I deserved to reward myself with junk food. I would love to hear how some of you battle this.
Thanks for listening...

About a week ago, someone said something on a post in here about the "three bite rule." I started doing this. Three bites of a tempting desert or other food is all I allow myself. Then I haven't completely blown my calories for the day.
Also-I workout in the evening. Then I know how many calories I need to burn. That way I've eaten my 1220 calories for the day, plus "most" of my exercise calories. I factor in the banana or frosted mini wheats before bed, and I'm square for the day.
Also-I posted a similar "feel like I should reward myself with junk food" and found out that is one thing that we absolutely should not do. So I enjoy foods, I just balance smaller portions with more exercise.0 -
The three bite rule, huh. I'll try that. I excercise at night too, but I ate so much, there was no running that off. Thanks for the tip. I'll try it (easier said than done) and let you know how it turns out for me.0

I know this is kind of backwards but I started eating more dessert. I would get healthier recipes and try to eat dessert about 3-4 times a week. Now I don't feel so tempted since I see dessert as more of a casual thing instead of splurging. Of course, the desserts were healthier but still satisfying (ie chocolate covered strawberries, fat free sorbet, ect) . I hope this helps!0

Of course this helps. Thanks for your suggestion. Maybe, I will try to just make sure the sweets that I eat are better. I never thought about sorbet, which I love, or maybe even frozen yogurt. Thanks turtle.0
