How frustrating is it to be so excited to lose weight only to go back up the next week. Yes, I go up "two" weeks out of the month, both during TOM but yet again a couple weeks later! What the heck?!? Does this happen to you? I know most women gain a couple pounds during TOM, but not two weeks after as well.

So my weight loss (please note, I'm very consistent with my calories) goes kind of like this:

Week One = 200
Week Two = 202 even though I'm consistent with my eating (very frustrating!)
Week Three = 196 Celebration! Woot! (even though there is no way I lost four pounds in a week)
Week Four =198! (feeling discouraged, heck I can gain weight eating sweets and fast food!)
Week Five= 194! (Holy Moly, more motivated than I can imagine!)
Week Six= 196 (bummer! well at least I now know the pattern, just gotta hang in there!)

Anybody else experience anything similar?!?

It could have to do with your sodium intake causing water retention ! Maybe keep an eye on sodium and drinks lots and lots of water to flush it out of your system !!!!!

***** Seriously don`t stress on the up & down! It helps - if weight loss was easy - we`d have alot of skinny people walkin`the earth

The same thing happens to me. Such a relief to hear I'm not alone. But it is frustrating.

If it's 2 weeks after your TOM then it's probably ovulation that's causing a bump. That can be completely normal for some women, up to 5 pounds, very frustrating, but the pattern is in a downward trend and that is what counts for the long run. Keep it up, you are doing great!

  • Sodium is probably part of the picture... And when I went on a cruise, i gained 4.5 pounds in 4 days. Then I lost 3 of them in a week... and the other one a week later.
BTW, my weight moves up and down by a pound and a half on a regular basis. in fact, over the course of a day, i might vary by two pounds. Look at the trends, not the individual numbers. You are trending the right way.
  • I have just started, but I gained half a pound week two. There are a lot of reasons you can show changes in your weight, like weighing at the same time of day ( I weigh different in the AM then in the PM), having the same amount of clothing (best to weigh nude), also how much water /food your body is holding when you weigh yourself. For me weighing first thing in the morning before eating and nude gives me the most accurate number. I don"t know if this helps and i'm sure you probably already know all this, but hang in there. You are losing , imagine if you weren't doing this what your weight would be. Good Luck and keep up the good work.
