Daily Calories Burned While Sick

Does the body burn more calories fighting off an illness while sick. For example, I currently have a head cold but still exercising and my daily routine hasn't changed. So I'm eating and exercising and keeping track of my calories in and out as normal. My body does feel a little achy and weak since being sick but nothing that is stopping me from normal routine. But since my body is actually fighting off an illness at the same time, is it using up more energy then it would if I wasn't sick?

1st off I hope you are feeling better! 2nd I was always told that when we are ill and our body works to make its self well our BMI increases so we will burn more calories just laying there letting the body do its job. No need to fight with the body when it is already hard at work. :flowerforyou:

    I'm feeling way better. Thanks!

That was what I was thinking. Which was making me wonder if that was why my body felt weak instead of the head cold. My calorie deficit was actually lower then what I thought it was from what I put in and what my HRM said I used during exercising. Or it could just be cause I was sick. But it doesn't matter anymore for me at least.
