I am 18 years old an was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Really ****ty time. One month before graduation, prom, summer.. I am dealing with a really immense course load of classes, AP tests, and a ton of other stuff. Anyone else dealt with this at my age? I could really use some support in regards to this. Thanks :)

I haven't dealt with this, but just wanted to offer my support! I know the pressure you're feeling with school/AP tests/end of senior year stuff (trust me, I was in your situation a few years ago with my own cross to bear), and it's already a lot, and then to add this on to that? I can't imagine what you're feeling. I'll keep you in my prayers, and I hope for all the best for you!

Good luck, and kick that cancer's *kitten*! You can do it!

I am really sorry to hear about the trials you are going to but you are not alone I am 24 now but when I was 17 I was diagonsed with Lymphoma, during my final exams (uni and college entry exams) just before my formal (prom) and miss out on my end of school vacation. It is hard but I am stronger as a result and it also helped me realise how strong I am and also what 'true' friends I had.

Feel free to add me if you want to talk some more or want some support from someone what went through something very similar

xox I will keep youin my prayers and thoughts.

There was a lump that was found in my neck, they ended up taking most of it. Still waiting to hear what it was... Hope everything works out for you. I heard that thyroid cancer is the easiest cancer to get rid of. So just think of it as an obstacle, probably not at the best time but once it's over it will only make you stronger.

I haven't suffered from thyroid cancer, but my mom was diagnosed with it a year before she had me. Just wanted to let you know she had her entire thyroid removed and hasn't had any problems with it since. Hope your journey goes as smoothly as hers did!

Well, I wasn't too far off- I was 21 and a college junior during midterms. Mine ended up being benign on final pathology report, but still had the stress and strain of midterms, surgery, etc.

What I'll tell you is enjoy prom, do as best you can on tests. Most instuctors will work with you in a situation like this. Any cancer is scary. Thyroid cancer is one of the slowest growing and easiest to treat. Will most likely not affect graduation or prom. I was back in the classroom 5 days after my surgery. Granted, my day consisted of class, nap, a little studying, nap, a little studying, bed. But after a week, I was much better. If you let the surgeon know the big life events you have coming up, he/she will probably be able to work around those- time it when the surgery will have the least amount of impact on those events.

I ended up graduating from college with honors and am now an Nurse Practitioner, so you can do it! Add me if you think I can offer more help!

When I was 19 the doctor found a tumor in my thyroid but it ended up being benign but I know what you are going through. It was a rough few months. I was in college at that time and it was hard to cope. On the upside, thyroid cancer is one of the most treatable cancers and surgery is pretty quick and less invasive. You'll be fine!

When I was in college, the doctors found an abnormality on a MRI of my brian. It was one of the scariest times of my life. Thankfully it proved to be nothing serious, however I understand the fear you must be feeling. I know what I want through does not compare at all to what you will face over the next few months - but I am willing to listen as you vent.

Keep you chin up and continue to press forward. Saying a prayer for you!

So EXCITED! Dr said yesterday he doesn't suspect that my tumors are cancer, of course have to wait on the biopsy but this Dr has specialized in this since before most of were born so I am trusting him!
