Was Working Now it's Not :-(

I'm feeling a bit stuck and a bit confused. When I had my goal at 1000 calories a day (I was inactive due to having my thyroid removed and trying to get my levels correct so I'd have the energy to begin exercising again). My metabolism was almost at a standstill.
At 1000 calories a day I was losing steady - not too fast - about 1 pound a week. But MFP suggested 1200 (as did some of the peeps here) so I upped it. Since that time I've actually gained weight. And it's not water weight as it's not coming off.
Do you think it would be best to go back to the 1000 since it was working and just up the intake with the exercise calories? I can't do too much exercise due to my physical limitations. Only about 40 minutes on the treadmill at a 3-4mph clip. Then it tires me out the rest of the day. Any suggestions??

Sweetheart, do you need to be losing at all? Are you content where you are? It's not just gain or lose. It's also about maintaining. Something I'm struggling with too. Honey, what do you need? Where are you trying to go? You do know, I'll do whatever you need. I adore you.0

SOOO much of it is WHAT you are eating- not only how much. I am not familiar with how to battle weight loss with a thyroid issue but i would definitely recommend talking to your dr about a suggested caloric intake. 1000 is too low-especially if you are working out, even if you are just walking. Your body needs food to fuel it. But again thyroid trouble can screw things up... talk to the doc and see what he/she suggests.0

If you have such limtations on you because of your health then you really need to speak to a dietician or your doctor to see what they recommend xxx0

i would just like to say we all need at least 1200 a day to be healthy once in a while its ok to go under . i always eat the majority of my excercise calories and i seem to be losing, but as another person said u really should talk to a dietician etc..im in school to be a nutrition specialist but im only into my 3rd lesson0

I truly believe in plateaus. I started at 139 then when I was hovering around 130, I got "stuck" for FOUR weeks. Granted my diet wasn't perfect, but I was hitting my 1200 target most days. For some reason, after that time I guess my body was ready to go again and the weight has been gradually coming off since.
Some people recommend having a day or two a week where you go a little over. I'm not a doctor or nutritionist, but I've done this recently (like had 1400 or 1500 calories) and then the scale started dropping!! Maybe it's just a day to reassure your body you're not starving yourself, I don't know!
Hang in there, don't eat so little you go into starvation mode, because that's when your body will cling for dear life to every calorie you put into it. The goal is to "fly under the radar" and lose slowly but surely. It works!0
