This might seem like an obvious question but do you burn more calories exercising when you weight more than someone who does the same exercise but weighs less ....
I was thinking about this the other day as I was jogging ...
Then I wondered as I entered my exercise into the MFP tracker ..

Scientifically speaking >> yes. More one weighs, more the energy spent, and hence more calories burnt (everything else remaining the same).
This can also be verified by entering a different wt on treadmill. Net calorie spent differs.

As far as I know you do...my firned and I both have HRM and we always like to compare...she is bigger than me so always burns more....although our fitness level would also come into factor0

Definitely you do! If you're on an elliptical or something, don't just use the "quick start" but put in your weight, and then you'll be amazed at all the calories you were burning and not getting credit for when it was estimating your weight! Hahaha.
That's often why people get frustrated as well, because they actually have to eat even less and work out more as they get nearer their goal. It can be difficult, but it's good--it means your body is becoming more efficient with its energy.0 -
If you weigh more, then your body has to work harder to do the same level of exercise. Its like having a whole load of weights attached to your body, it requires more energy to move them. So yes, heavier people burn calories at a faster rate! But as the weight comes off, you have to work harder and longer to get the same calorie burn,0
