Does this really make a difference?

Does it really matter if you fry meat, bake it, boil it calorie wise? I can maybe understand if you fry it with oil or something.. but I ALWAYS fry my meat in a pan with no butter or oil. Just as it is with a little salt and pepper.. .Does it really make a difference??

I "fry" meat all the time - like you no oils or etc. used. I don't count it as different personally. If you're not adding fats to it and you are cooking it, it should come out the same calorie wise. JMO!

as long as you aren't adding a fatty oil, I can't see how it would drastically change the caloric content of a meat (pan frying)

i george forman all my meat & steam my veg etc
  • The only difference I can see it making is maybe if the meat is boiled and drained more of the fat might be boiled out and tossed with the water? I don't really know though.

I personally like the taste of boiled meat better then fried, but thats just a preference.

I dont think I have ever really boiled meat before... besides in soup. Roast would be the closest. I just always think boiled meat looks so nasty haha

Great point! If I pan fry my meat, I always drain the fat and soak it up with a paper towel. But broiling is considered "healthier", or so I've heard. b/c the fat is drained, like the george foreman.

I use chicken broth or beef broth rather than oil or butter, its a bit of a healtier choice, and gives your food great flavor
