Eat before early morning workouts??

Hi! I just recently began doing some of my workout first thing in the morning before getting ready for work. I have been doing Jillian's 30 day Shred (20 minutes), which is a combo of cardio, strength training and abs. I have not been eating anything before the workout because I get straight out of bed and get dressed to exercise. Is it better to eat something first to get the metabolism going, or is it ok to get up and exercise and then eat breakfast?? Just wondering what others do!

I'm wondering the same thing....though I don't think I would be able to eat that early and then workout....I am wondering if it is better for you to do that though....

When I do the early morning thing, I generally just drink a couple of glasses of water first. It is hard enough to get my butt up...if I had to get up even earlier to eat something, well, it would never happen!!

Overall, I generally don't eat right before a workout. I tend to get a bit sick to my stomach. If I am famished, a scoop of peanut butter or something will hold me over.

Good Luck!! And, kudos for getting up that early!!

    1-2 hours before workout liquid
    2-3 something small
You do want to get carbs and protein before a workout and immediately after. Protein Shakes are great

If am working out in the morning I usually do either 1/2-whole banana or a hard boiled eggs. Not enough to make me queasy or to cause cramps during my cardio if I do a full breakfast.

Thanks everyone for the tips! It's so hard to know what works and what doesn't with weight loss! It was so much easier 10 years ago! Seems to be a science to it and I'm learning more each day!

I do the early morning thing too, and I've found that a glass of fiber does the trick. Then I eat afterwards. The fiber not only keeps you full, but helps to keep you.... regular :-)
