Ok i am 5'3 i weigh 146. so i really just want to lose about 6 more lbs. i work out because i feel good and to be healthy. i don't really work out to want to lose abunch of weight. I don't want to be a size 4 (no offense to anyone) but ya i still want to look good. anyway i work out 4-5 times week on average. As you know those last 5-10 lbs are always the hardest. but because i have made working out a lifestyle not something i force myself to do. Do you think that taking a week off of working out really shocks your body or do people say that to be lazy . just asking???? puzzled face.

I don't know about taking a week off to 'shock' the body - there are other things you can do to follow this theory. For instance, I'll do 2-3 weeks of nothing but cardio and then step back to the heavy weight lifting. Within my cardio weeks though I'll do interval training, circuit training, and sometimes nothing but treadmill and elliptical work. I'll also throw in a week where I do nothing but yoga and pilates several times a week. For me personally, this gives my muscles a chance to just take a break and when I go back to the weight lifting, I find that I can add on a few pounds if I want to.0

I missed a week of working out because I went out of town and then got sick. I lost 3 pounds, which is more than I have lost in a single week since starting. I was totally shocked by the loss. So it may work for you.0

I like to take a week to 'de-laod' every couple of months or so. I stay busy during this time, play ball, hike, swim whatever is fun and keeps me busy. Bit no weightlifting, or excersisng. I watch what I eat, no candy no softdrinks or alcohol. Or watching the scale. When I get back to my routine, I always experience an increase in strength.
I think its more about your body recovering more completely, than shocking itself into changes.0 -
I don't think it would hurt, but be careful. Taking a week off may make you want more time off and before you know it you took a month off. I would suggest that you change your workout. Do you always do cardio and weights? Do dance or yoga. Maybe your body is use to the workout you are doing. Hope I helped!0
