My neighbor swears by the Usana protein shakes and nutriton bars so she gave me some to try. I had the nutrition bar before working out this morning and a few hours later had the shake. What she didn't tell me (and I was dumb enough not to look) is how high in sugar they are. Now I'm already over my sugar intake for the day. Grrrr!

  • I take USANA essentials for my multi but I did not care for the bars and shakes for the reason you mention.

You can probably find some great protein shakes without much sugar.
    Look into Scivation Whey.

A lot of protein bars seem to be high in sugar, unless you pay extra for carb conscious ones. Thats why I skip out on protein bars, too much money for not much protein.

quest protein bars don't have much sugar as far as I know.
I went to their site and got free samples a while back.
  • The nutrimeal shakes from USANA are not protein shakes. They are meal replacement shakes which are great for breakfast. They do contain sugar, but it is fructose sugar which the body can use for energy. The shakes are great for keeping your blood sugar levels steady, therefore, you won't have the sugar "high" and then crash.
