So I finally discovered the calorie saving abilities of using regular oatmeal over the flavored packets BUT i flavor it with brown sugar (given alot less then I used to!) But I need a few other ideas.

I personally wont use fruit because its a texture thing for me AND I dont think fruit should be eaten warm (I actually rarely eat it at room temp) but if you use it go ahead and post it because it may help someone else!

these are my top three (all involve fruit, but its just a suggestion)

    1. nutella, oatmeal, and bananas. I just slice the banana after it the oatmeal has cooked so they dont get so mushy
    2. peanut butter, oatmeal, and bananas.
    3. brown sugar and apples with greek yogurt...its like apple pie...so yummy!

I use blueberries (added after porridge is made so they're still cold!) or raisins/sultanas or pumpkin seeds or a teaspoon of honey. I recently started using water in my oatmeal instead of milk to cut down on my sugar intake and after a few days you get used to the new taste. When you take away all the sugar you've been adding to it you start to actually TASTE the oatmeal and its rather nice! You just have to get used to it :)

I use 1 pack of Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal, 1 pack of Fresh Gourmet Fruit Medley (dried cranberries, cherries, blueberries and gold raisins) and 1 tablspoon of chopped walnuts. It's my at home copy of Starbuck Perfect Oatmeal. It's HEAVENLY!

I sometimes put banana and cinnamon or apple cinnamon and walnuts.

1/2 tsp brown sugar and mixed berries, about two spoonfuls.

If I don't have enough fresh berries, I will microwave a couple spoons of frozen berries (not long enough to make hot) and use the juice and the spoon if berries.

    Bananas

I add banana while it's cooking, along with cinnamon, dried cranberries, and splenda. I top my bowl with soy or almond milk and a big spoonful of almond butter. And I much prefer steel cut oats to rolled oats!

I do add a touch of brown sugar and cream. I know these things are unhealthy... but I'd prefer to add 1tsp pf half and half or coconut milk to oatmeal so that I eat it instead of not eating it.

    And it's so yummy.

Quick edit: I find brown sugar Splenda just bad. It's worth the calories to use a tsp of the real stuff.
