Hello, I am relatively new to MFP. I think I started about 2 weeks ago, finally thought that I should post on here. I am looking to loose at least 60 pounds if not more, I am going to evaluate where I am at at that point. I am currently at my heaviest weight that I have ever been and hate it. About 2 years ago I had my fourth foot surgery and since the surgery I have gained at least 50 pounds. The surgery was very invasive. It took about 8 months before I could even start walking on it and even then I had to teach myself how to walk again. Since the surgery I am very limited as to what physical activity that I can actually do, thus all the weight gain. I have always struggled with my weight and this surgery was the cherry on top of the sunday.

I am looking for any suggestions on here mostly for excerising. I am very good at putting my mind to dieting, but I know in order to loose weight that I need to start excerising. I am already plannng on once my pool opens up where I live to swim daily.

Any help, encouragement, tips, and friends on the site would be great!

Hey. I've been there. May 3, 1999, I was caught in the most powerful tornado to ever grace this earth and almost died. My rt leg was severly injured as well as about every other part of my body. 30+ surgeries later I was 275. I went down to 215 but then let myself go and went back to 265. Found this site 4 weeks ago and am already down 17 lbs. Here is my suggestion...get a gym membership and become best friends with the eliptical and stationary bike. Mix in a little weight lifting. That and watching your calories on here will give you results.

As long as your willing to put your best foot forward.. then you can succeed. LIttle steps to begin with and then move on when your comfortable.

Things you can do that are somewhat lite but still effective:

    Walking
Strength Training (working on that foot a little at a time)
    Swimming (Treading water etc)
    Squats, Pushups, Situps, Core Training
Get your Self a Restistance Ball

It makes a big difference when you have someone to share your weight loss with. My co-workers and I weigh in every Wednesday. Working together helps me stick to my goal!

I ride my stationary bike a few days a week and have started Zumba which is a lot of fun, if you like dancing. I bought the DVD from Amazon and work out at home. Just start off slow and after a few weeks you will notice a big difference.

Feel free to add me if you like. Good luck!!
