Are black socks ever okay to wear with white shoes?

    I am not sure if it is considered a fashion faux pas, but it looks strange to me.

    the last fashion with the teenies for the boys is shorts black socks and slides (like flipflops without the thong..) it's absolutely horrible looking, i hate it..

    I wore toe socks with Birkenstocks in high school. I am sure that if that chick from What Not To Wear showed up, her head would have exploded.
