Hey guys!! Hope everyone had a blessed Easter weekend. I was wondering if anyone knows if you burn off say 150 calories taking a walk is it ok to eat those cals back for the day. Is it ok as long as you are still at your cal intake for the day, or even better a little under?

YES!!! Eat them, enjoy them, use them to motivate you to keep working out! I call my workout calories my CHOCOLATE calories. My ICE CREAM calories. I don't always use them for that, but it helps me feel like I can treat myself a little even on a diet.0

hahahahahaha- love that. I find myself wondering the same thing...
"STILL YES!"0 -
If you want a healthy steady weight loss, then yes it's good to eat back some/most of your calories, If you're hungry. If not then don't. I haven't really found that it changes my weight loss any. But you can hit a plateau from eating too little calories and burning too many.0

I am wondering the same thing as I am new to the site please let me know what you find out..Thanks0

I would eat some of them. Not all of them.0

Well they say you can and some do....once in a great while I'll dip a little into mine ...it will slow down your weight loss...you need to listen to your body0

if you log accurately and log workout cals burnt accurately then yes eat them back and enjoy, mfp already has a built in deficit needed for weight loss without working out so enjoy. I am living proof that it works when you are accurate and log everything all the while eating back all my exercise cals.0

If I'm hungry, I eat them back...if I'm not I don't. I figure its a matter of checks and balances and in the long run it all balances out.0

YES! Eat them if you are hungry because if you don't eat enough your body will go into starvation mode. I typically eat at least half of them, I still end up at the end of the day have a defecit, but yep I eat them!0

A good rule of thumb is that you should always NET at least 1200 calories a day.
On your main page of mfp, it shows what calories you have consumed - what calories you lost exercising = your NET for the day.
Just keep an eye on that. And yes, EAT some if not all of those!0 -
UUUHHH...THANKS! LOL0

OK, great!! That's what I thought, I just didn't want a month to go by and find out that I shouldn't have, now that makes me feel better ;-)0

Thanks Ashley!!! That makes me understand a lot better, I can use those little extra that I burn off from day to day.0

Thanks Newfiedan, I have been logging in EVERY little thing that I eat, and drink and when I exercise, I put the exact amount of time, I hope this works!!0
