Just keep... running?!?!

I have a 10km run this weekend and I need a push.

Last year I ran a half marathon and felt great - couldn't believe I finished a 22.1km run before my brother even got out of bed!?!?! Then I injured my ankle... No more running for me... until now! I have to admit though, I am not an avid runner, I get bored easily - after 30 minutes of running I find myself thinking "why am I still running? and where am I headed?" I would rather pound out an hour kick-boxing, or playing rugby than running... but alas - the injured ankle can only handle so much...

My plan - don't die! LoL

5km tonight
7km Wednesday
10km Sunday

Thoughts? Encouragement? General distaste for running in general?

Also, if you have running tunes you LOVE!!!

When you say you haven't run until now, have you trained for this 10k?

You asked for thoughts, I'm wondering, as you say you're not an avid runner and get bored quickly, why you run for more than 30 minutes, or even at all?

Okay you might not be able to play rugby due to your injury, but isn't there anything else that interests you?

Good luck with the 10k run, perhaps it might re-infuse you with some enthusiasm for running.

This season = no training haha - hense the apprehension about the charity run I signed up for.

Generally I am a very active person so, when it came around to signing up - I had some pressure seeing as I "already play hockey, ultimate frisbee, do combat classes - what is a 10km run?"

I don't generally see a point to run for more than 30 minutes - hense the no running (save the fact that I do a treadmill warm-up for 1.5km before combat classes) except that it is to rasie money to send children with Cancer to camp... so I decided that was a good enough reason to get my legs moving for an hour...

Thanks for the luck :) Hopefully all goes well, I finish under 1 hour (because believe you me, any longer than that and I will be beyond bored - hense the need for tunes)

Aah, that makes sense, I wondered why you were doing it if you get so bored!

I am doing C25K, and when I googled for training tracks the other day, I found a huge variety of mixes.

No idea how long this idea has been popular, but if you haven't looked for a while, if you google it, you might find some ready - mixed tracks specifically for running 10k, that make you go "Wow I want to hear that again".

I like to listen to podcasts, audiobooks, that kind of thing... in addition to great music. But often I run or ride with nothing and just let my thoughts ramble. You need a training buddy that will keep up a good conversation. Makes the miles FLY by!
