    Focus on 1-2lbs a week.

It is possible, although, I don't think it's really healthy. For me, if I set my goals too high, I get discouraged. It's disappointing to have a very limited diet and not get the expected results. If you stick with the 2 lbs a week, which is very achievable, that's 24 lbs and if you add a few days of vigorous activity you can easily add a few more pounds over a 3 month period. Good luck and you can do it!

I just hit 40lbs in 90 days today. I am by no means starving myself and work out 30-60 minutes a day....

I lost 42 pounds in 3 months...I did it healthy I worked out 5-6 times a week and ate between 1100-1300 calories a day with 1 cheat day every now and then.

I Do have quite a bit of weight to lose however...
  • I honestly think that it's how you change your diet. If you eat junk food and drink sodas then stop.. yes.. I think you can. But if you are already on a pretty healthy diet it will be tough. Just make sure you are eating like you should! Just choose healthy options! Good luck!

If you want to be fit and healthy long term, then take your time getting there. It's not about how fast it happens, but that it happens at all. Eat your required calories and find exercises you will enjoy doing at least 3 times a week. Make sure your exercises are just challenging enough, they shouldn't be overwhelming. Get a full nights sleep, decrease stress from your life, and eat healthy whole foods over high sodium and/or processed. If you want to lose weight the healthy way, make realisitc and achieveable goals. 1 pound a week is realistic and achievable. That means in 40 weeks (less than a year) you'll be where you want to be and chances are you'll have made a lasting change.

I want to add, that losing 2 pounds a week is fine (but slightly aggressive) until you are within 20 pounds of your goal weight. Then you should change it to 1 pound a week, and finally at your last 10 pounds 1/2 pound a week.

I would think it would depend on how much you have to lose altogether/how much you weigh now.

Don't look at it as 40 pounds in 3 months. Look at it as 2 pounds this week. Some will be more, others may be less.
