Frame size / weight charts

With all this losing weight, eating healthy, BMI charts, health charts, weight charts yadda yadda... I tried to find something that looked to be official for figuring out what I "should" weigh. (Side note: I've never put a whole lot of stock in them, I've always been big. But I guess I'm like a cat and the curiosity has gotten the better of me.) So, looking at these charts some of them are broken into frame size. Small, medium, large. I always figured that I'm more of the average/medium size framed gal just with the extra poundage packed on. But HOW do you actually figure out your frame size is what I was wondering. Google is such a fantastic friend! I found several sites that all gave the same methods for figuring this out. Wrist measurement and you height. There's also a more accurate elbow measurement too. Kudos to all of you who already new this, silly me for not knowing already. I was very surprised to find that I have a large frame (my wrist is 6.75 inches and I am 5'5" tall)! And this made me feel even better about my goal weight that I have chosen to get down to because it's right in the range that the charts say I "should" be for my height and frame size. My wii fitness thing can just kiss my big boned booty!!

I completely disagree with the BMI Index! According to the chart, I am suppose to be like 112-127 lbs. I would look like a bone rack if that was the case, and in the words of The Black Eyed Peas I would lose all my 'lovely lady lumps'! lol.0

I'm skeptical about the wrist measurement thing.... The reason is that I've lost a lot of weight. When i first started, my watch band was on the furthest out tick, and now that i've lost the weight, I've moved it tighter 5 notches. So, If i measured my wrist back then I definitely would have been "big" framed, but not so much anymore.0

Can you share the site you found this out at?? I am Googling and not finding anything worthy.... thanks!0

I think the wrist measurement will only work if you don't have any fat on your wrist. I am large framed, my wrist measures something like 8" around, has since high school. But I carry my weight in my thighs, hips and butt, and I've never had a layer of fat on my arms/wrists/anything.
THis is pretty accurate:

Hmmm...according to my wrist measurement, I'm large framed.
According to my elbow breadth, I'm small framed.
Uhhhhh...yeah, that didn't help. lol0 -
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this.
Here's a link to a weight chart that categorizes by height and frame.

and here is a link to a page about measuring your frame size.

I'm thinking that the next time I have a dr appt I'm going to ask my dr if she can measure my frame size or tell me how to measure. I'd like to see how accurate these sites and and well, I'd like to know for sure.0 -

Steps 2 & 3/4 of the ehow link give me two different readings. Step 2 would indicate that I'm extremely small framed for how much my fingers overlap. But Steps 3/4 tells me I'm medium framed.
So now I've been gauged as small frame, medium frame and large framed. One site tells me I should be 134lbs, another tells me I should be either 112.5lbs or 125lbs.
This is why I don't trust the internet on stuff like this. lol0
