Ok so I did my walk tonight at the gym. I walked at 3.5 for 35 minutes. So MFP says I burned 249 calories, but the treadmill at the gym said 214. Which do I go by?

    i'd say average it out,
but you'll get better answers later from smarter ones:ohwell:
suggest you look into HRMs if you have the money, because sometimes both can be way off though

I Always go by the smaller number myself. or if I burn say 600 calories I log in at 500. I wish I had a HMR. But someday... I can say that I ran on my treadmill at home and one at a hotel this week and they say totally different. Best of luck to you. Melissa

I always go with the one at the gym....because its always lower and I don't want to eat more when I didn't really burn that much
  • I agree, go with the lesser of the two. Just like if you are unsure of calories on something, I go with a little higher to just make sure. :flowerforyou:

I need an HRM too! I don't go to a gym, I run outside or do tapes in my house and OMG I work hard! I think I burn more than what mfp says but I always put the amount as is....just incase...and its hard to get the real picture for example when say I run I push my son in the jogger,...up hills etc...and its hard to get an accurate messure from a database....so ya HRM is in my near future!:drinker:

    good luck everyone!
    hugs!
