Egg Whites...Not a fan!

Okay so I've been told to eat Boiled Eggs for snacks which would be great but I have this aversion to egg whites. I can only eat them when my eggs are scrambled. If I eat a boiled egg most of the time I don't finish all the white, same when I would eat deviled eggs, or fried eggs. When the white is in it's solid form I just can't eat it. The texture/taste is just gag worth to me. I've always been like this...I try really hard to eat them. I would also try to eat them by covering them in salt before I started my journey but seeing as I have issues with sodium I refuse to add salt to them because it's not worth it to be over my sodium.
When I was younger and even recently (before I started using mfp) I used to say "one day I'll go to a restaurant and order an all Yolk omelet". No joke...I love the yolk and I would have done it but that's just...grossly gluttonous.
Any ideas of how I can eat a boiled egg as a snack without the salt?

That's so weird, because I can NOT stand yolks!
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.0 -

haha! seriously! I just can't do the white...icky. I've never liked meringue (cookies or on a pie) either.0 -
Don't eat it LOL
There's plenty of other great foods out there for you'!0 -
I can eat a hard boiled egg except for the yoke. It's too weird for me. But I know what you're saying about texture. I can't eat oatmeal because it weirds me out. Its just what you're used too.0

I am the opposite...I don't care for the yolk! But what about making a little bit of egg salad with fat free mayo? Just chop it up really finely and mix well with the yolk. Then it sort of all tastes the same.0

When I was younger I HATED the yolks, would take the rubbery ball out, and throw it out with the shell... funny now that I know they are the least healthy part I actually like a yolk every once in awhile, as I find it fills me up more. Although that is probably the extra 54cals it contains with fats! lol0

Egg whites are a great source of protein, yes; but also high in sodium, and certainly not the only source of lean protein. If you hate them that much, then there's no need to punish yourself! lol
On the other hand, if you are bound for punishment (Haha), why not try them scrambled IN something? I often make a wrap with a whole wheat tortilla, and put in scrambled egg whites and sauteed spinach and mushrooms. Or beans. Cheese. Salsa. Endless possibilities here!0 -

My thoughts exactly. You don't have to like egg whites! Don't try to force it down! It's just not worth it. Take those calories and spend them on something you really enjoy... Even if it's a piece of chocolate! It's better than gagging. Silly, silly.0 -
Your post is gagible as a whole lol... i would say quit having a boiled egg as a snack.. i don't know how you can even manage that..
the only way i can eat a boiled egg is one that is curried with mayo in a sandwich.0 -
Sorry must say that I haven't forced myself to eat them down...I used too. I was just told they were a good source of protein and it would be a good snack option.
It's not that I HAVE to eat them because obviously I have choice in the matter it's that I'd like too...like them lol. If there was other ways to eat them I'd like to know is all I'm asking.0 -
Crumble them and bake them in the oven!0

i love boiled eggs and egg whites,,, i put a little of olive oil with salt and its soo tasty0

Hmm, sounds the opposite of me. I hate the yolk but love the egg white (thankfully! lol). I remember as a kid having boiled eggs with a little jelly. Try the egg whites with sugar free jelly. Sounds weird but surprisingly it was very good.
Also, why can't you just eat it scrambled since you don't seem to mind it as much when it's prepared that way?0 -
I kinda gag on the whites too, but sometimes I'll slice them in half and put mustard on them (that might sound weird, but there's mustard in devilled eggs!) and black pepper. I know there's sodium in mustard but that's what works for me.0

I've always put mustard on my egg sandwiches, it's delicious! I personally prefer using just whites (I like the flavor and texture better) but sometimes I'll poach or fry a couple eggs (in pam spray) so I can get the runny yolks to dip toast in. I don't eat red meat, so my cholesterol intake is usually very low every day, and the 2 real eggs is kind of a "treat" for me! Have you tried cooking the whiles but not scrambling it, just flipping it (so you get a solid mass)? I do that and add a slice of reduced fat cheese (I like provolone) and make it into a sandwich with a whole grain 100 calorie english muffin and a piece of lowfat canadian bacon (and mustard...of course!) It's one of my more frequent breakfasts!
Oh also, I usually pour the egg white into a saucepan (I use liquid allwhites) and then cover it...it puffs up and the texture changes, it's all fluffy and wonderful. Then once there's no liquid swimming around on top, I flip it, add a thin slice of cheese and cover again off the heat to melt! The way I make the sandwich it's about 235 calories, depending on the type of cheese and type of ham (sometimes I just do spinach).0 -
I actuallyt like all of the egg...
But anyway. A, somewhat expensive little recipie that I haven't made in a while is to mash a boiled egg (with a fork) and then mix in mayo and kaviar(the regular cheap stuff) and then eat it on a sandwich. Delicious.
How much mayo and kaviar you use is all up to taste, and how much you decide you can afford to use. Yeah...0 -
Just a thought from the peanut gallery...
Egg yoks are healthy, calorie dense food.
Don't vilify them.0 -
I can eat yolks but only in poached or fried eggs where the yolk is runny and not hard. Hard egg yolk makes me vomit in my mouth a little just thinking of it. I think it's the texture and the smell. Yuck yuck yuck! You could use some celery seed and garlic powder to make the egg whites taste better. Celery seed is a great replacement for salt -- 4mg of sodium in 1tsp. Just make sure you get celery SEED not celery salt.0

No idea.
I've always loved boiled eggs and eat 3-4 at a time. So i've got no tips.
sorry0 -

That's what I do--make a little serving of egg salad.0 -

Yes..making them yummy with adding things or making an omelette will make a huge difference. I used to avoid just the whites because I like the yolk taste but tried only whites for an omelette with veggies and seasoning and loved it.0
