I just got back from a 5 day holiday where i overate every day on chips, ice cream, chocolate, bread, kfc, cookies, every single junk food imaginable, you name it. I didn't count calories and i can't even imagine how many over i was :(
I need some extra motivation so i'm wondering how long it would take me to burn off all those extra calories. Would you say two weeks of healthy eating and exercise get me back on track?
I know i can't get an exact number as i didn't count calories but i think having some kind of bench mark would give me a goal that i can reach and a point where i know i've reversed the damage.

  • I think you'll be surprised - it's not as bad as you think. It takes a long time to put on weight. What you'll most probably find is you'll have a lot of fluid retention - salty food and junk food does that to you. You should feel better in 2 days of eating healthy and should have reversed the damage in a week or two if you are really committed to exercise and healthy food. Don't beat yourself up. That is what holidays are for. Now you're back home, get back on the horse. xxx

Certainly I would advise you- don't dwell on the overindulgence! The mistakes were made and making better choices and being forward focused will help you recover. Don't freak out if the scale goes up a little- you know it may happen- so I advise staying off the scale for about two weeks while you get yourself back in order.
Refreshing your body with extra amounts of pure water and opting for raw fresh fruits and veggies only for a couple days can help reset the system while you get back on track with your exercise and diet. Trying to burn about 250-400 extra calories for each day of over-indulgence may also help, so for the next week of exercise, add in an additional workout-out or double up on a favorite exercise.

It doesn't really work like that. You MAY have added some weight/fat to your body, but it's nothing that can't be undone. Get back to your regular workout/eating plan as soon as possible and everything will be fine. It's not accurate to state a time-frame on "undoing" something, especially since the calories have been processed, and there's no way of knowing just how much stuck to your body. Chin up, it's not that bad! :flowerforyou:

wow 5 days of junk food.. thats alot of calories which you already know of... I would say start drinking lots of water, and bump ur cardio to 2 hrs a day.. and see what happens with healthy eating, cardio and water for 2 weeks..

Please do NOT follow this advice - it's incorrect and inaccurate. You DON'T want to be doing that much cardio, ever. It's excessive and can be dangerous, not to mention the fact that a depleted glycogen store means you'll be burning off your muscle rather than fat. 10 hours of cardio a week is beyond excessive - don't listen to this!

    Negativity is not wanted here.

I think you should be fine love! To gain a pound of fat, you need to eat an EXTRA 3,500 calories, and i doubt you ate an extra 3,500 calories a day so don't worry. Just get back on board tomorrow. You may see a 1-2 pound raise but that's just from the salt. Make sure you drink plenty of water to flush the toxins out. Tomorrow just eat ad exercise how you would and you will be fine :] I hope you enjoyed your holiday!
