Everyday I check out the success stories for motivation and to see how others are having success. What I am noticing is that people are having large amounts of loss in short amounts of time. I've been doing P90X for 2 months and while yes I have struggled with my diet I've done pretty well on it and I've only lost about 9 lbs. Am I missing something?

I have had the same problem, wondering what I am doing wrong. I have figured that everyone has a different body, and everyone has a different amount to lose. The more you have to lose, the faster it will come off. Also, when you are doing strength training with cardio, the weight will come off slower, but you may see more of a difference in your measurements.
Another thing I thought of is what I am eating. I have not cut anything out of my diet, since I know I could not make that a lifestyle change, I am just trying to watch my portions, and we have no idea what the other peoples diet looks like.

Hope this helps, and just remember that there are changes going on inside your body, you just may not be able to see it yet. =)

When I was doing p90x I didn't have much weight loss at all.........I actually stopped stepping on the scale for a while. I started just going with measurements instead. I was building muscle and getting more toned (still have such a long way to go) so the measurements let me know I was making some kind of progress.

Everyone is different. The more people weigh the higher numbers they will see because they have more to lose. All bodies are different. 9 pounds in 2 months is amazing! Focus on what you're doing! p90x ! that stuff is hard. You're doing amazing, keep it up. No i don't think you're missing a thing :)

I agree. We all started at different point of weight, eating habits and activity levels. I don't think I realized how badly I was eating on a daily level or how poor my activity tolerance had become. For my body the changes have been drastic and my weight loss reflects that. I know as my body gets used to this new routine the weight loss will slow down too.
There are other here who figure they were eating up to 5000 calories daily before starting or could not walk more than 20 feet w/o major fatigue. Just do YOUR best for YOU.

Some people have more to lose? I have lost 11lbs since Christmas being VERY careful with my diet and doing a lot of exercise. I do get disheartened when I hear about people losing 3lbs a week, but I have to assume they had a lot more to lose than me. I am on my last 10lbs now, which I am expecting to take 6 or so months.

I never ate junk or fast food, and had quite an active lifestyle before starting.
  • Thank you for all the advice! I guess I just put myself in the more to lose catagory. I'll lose about 10lbs and then struggle for a few months change something up drop another 10 and then back to the old song and dance. Somedays I feel great and others I feel like I havent lost a thing.

Slow and steady wins the race! You'll have an easier time keeping the weight off long term if you lose it slowly. 9 lbs is great! Keep up the good work!

For a lot of people, the large initial weight loss is usually water.

P90X will help you tone lean muscle, which requires water to function.

I have also noticed a slow down in weight loss since starting P90X and even gained a pound or two, at times.

I use the scale as a guideline, but I don't worry about it very much. My body is starting to look and feel better than it has for a long time.

Keep an eye on measurements; you may see inches disappear, even when the pounds don't.

Stay on track, drink plenty of water, keep exercising and most importantly.... be patient.

Good luck and hang in there !!
