Taking my daughter to the movies tonight. Today was her last day of school. We plan to go shopping tomorrow for her belated birthday gift. She needs work clothes. She got an internship this summer. I got a few things out of the way this week and if I can get a few more next week hopefully Summer will settle down. I did Week 2 for C25K this morning on the first part of my walk. Made me feel better. I saw a recipe for Chicken Fiesta Soup on here that I have the ingredients for that I am planning to make soon. I will let you know if it is good. Also on a post on Sweet Potatoes someone said they were good grilled on the barbecue. Good luck with the realitor, Patty

scale decided to surprise me this weekend with two days showing lower numbers! now im down 22.6lbs and at least 31 inches overall since the second week of april! my newest mini goal is '30 by 30' making the deadline july 21. i know i can knock off those 7.4lbs by then :) i realized that i had been going at this not really setting any mini goals or really any goals other than losing weight and getting healthier, now my mission is to truly lay out all of my goals and give myself something to reach for :) goodluck everyone!

    Hi All,
Life does keep moving doesn't it! The past two weeks have been nerve wracking. My best friend was rushed to the hospital and it was touch and go for awhile. She is very overweight so would never go to the doctor, having a pretty good idea what she would be told. Now she has to face it all, she is a diabetic, has heart blockage, her breathing capacity is around 50% and she retains water like crazy. She has to make the choices now, change and live, or die. I love her and don't want to lose her, she is an awesome human being who has put others before her all her life. Now we have to help her realize it's her time now.
Along with this is the fact that I look at her and realize I'm heading down the same path. I am carrying around way to much weight and have to do this now, not wait until I end up in the hospital.
I hope all is well with everyone else. Has anyone had the gastric bypass surgery or the lap band? I'm wondering about those options. There is a guy at the gym who did the band, he was really big and is still pretty good sized, but he's lost a lot and comes in everyday to work out. He isn't losing weight but he is elderly and says that other than coming to the Y daily, he hardly ever leaves his house.
Anyway, my insurance doesn't cover any of it but I wonder peoples opion of it as an option.

Great loss, bandingo. I just might think about setting interim goals too. Patty sorry about your friend. That is why I am here so I don't have any health problems. So far I don't seem to have any. But I felt like it couldn't last if I didn't do something. I know someone who has had it and she still struggles with her weight and has alot of problems because of it. It maybe getting better now though. I figure you have to do the same things whether you get it or not. Exercise and eat right.

    Hi All,
I'm struggling but trying to hold on. I've been thinking a lot about the gastric bypass but am thinking it's not for me. My insurance doesn't cover it and the monthly payment would be pretty high.
I'm a little scared of the procedure itself as well. I just have to figure out a schedule and lifestyle that can work for me.
I sure hope all is going well with everyone else. Patty

No, it isn't an answer for everyone. And as you know, it still takes discipline, exercise and good eating habits to make it work. Most Gastric Bypass patients put the weight back on plus more because they didn't continue the things they learned while going through the process to get the surgery approved. I wish you luck in finding out what works for you...just make sure it is healthy.

Happy 4th everyone, I hope you all have a great weekend. I am planning meals for the week ahead today. I want to eat at home everyday after the 4th except maybe one a week. I have been good with exercise and staying under and not losing so I hope this helps.

Hello to All, I hope everyone had a great $th week-end. I have to admit that I never once touched a computer. It was awesome. I got a lot of outdoor work done in the early mornings, visited friends and family, and relaxed. I needed the time away. I am trying my best to not sit around so much and to take on atleast one physical project a day. On Tuesday and Thursday nights I'm doing water aerobics, and I've bought good foods for the week. I hope everyone else is doing well. Have a blessed day. Patty

Patty sounds like a great weekend and good start to the week. I love aquafit. We even went on the 4th in the morning. My husband goes with me on Saturdays only. I planned and bought food for 3 healthy meals this week too since it is short and I was with family for yesterday. So hope we all have a healthy week.
