I am totally having a problem going over my on my food diary for fat intake. Today I am over by 32 for fat and 41 on my protein. I am eating totally healthy, I do almost no carbs every other week and this is my no carb week. I really don’t know if this is that bad since I am doing low carb and all the fats are from eggs, nuts, and fish? But I couldn’t believe how high it was today! And does ANYBODY have any suggestions for low carb breakfast that doesn't involve eggs!!! ha ha.

You could always use egg whites instead of whole eggs.

Also, make sure that your fats aren't coming from red meats; the fats in fish/nuts/ some oils are very good for you. But, that being said, even good fats have 9 calories of fat per gram, so be careful with consuming too much!

My favorite breakfast is anything having to do with plain nonfat greek yogurt-- so much you can do with it too!

I love plain yogurt and cottage cheese, too. I am trying to wean myself off the 4% creamed cottage cheese, but it is so yummy. The 2% doesn't compare IMHO. But I am still buying it periodically and trying to develop a taste for it :o)

On your low carb week you are going to have to go over on Protein and fat because what else is there to eat?!

I don’t eat read meat at all!!! I haven’t in almost 15 years. I think I will switch to egg whites. I love greek yogurt too! That would be great for breakfast.

If you're trying to eat lower carbs, your protein and fat will be higher. In general, fat and carb are inversely proportional. So if you're eating low-carb, you'll eat lots of fat. (I'm low carb, and my carb is 10% and my fat is 60%) And if you choose to eat a low-fat diet, it will end up being likely high in carbs. Just find what your body needs and good luck to you! :)

Wow switching to egg whites really brings down my fat intake. The other big culprit is my 12 daily almonds, and I REFUSE to give those up  Gosh I love this site so much. Everyone is so helpful and nice. I really think this is the big reason I have really stuck with my diet and fitness plan. By the end of this week I will be down 15 lbs. and I feel great!

No reason to give up your almonds-- they are fantastic for you!! And if your protein is coming from lean sources, don't worry if you are over (I am over almost 30g every day). Just take care to balance fats in other areas of your diet (ie, only eat skim dairy).
  • Your calories come from 4 major groups

    Fat: 1 gram = 9 calories
    Protein: 1 gram = 4 calories
    Carbohydrates: 1 gram = 4 calories
    Alcohol: 1 gram = 7 calories

If you are not consuming carbohydrates then your calorie intake has to come from the other three and i'm assuming we aren't discussing alcohol.. lol So if you dont eat carb's you will have more fat and protein to compensate and replace the calories your carbs were bringing in. The calories have to come from some where
