I have a friend who wore her HRM doing a deep cleaning and she burned over 700 calories.0 -
I only log an activity when it is a work out, other than that, I just think as the "extra" stuff as a plus. Cool article though!0

I need to do alot of housework!!! but I dont consider that an exercise I consider it a responsibilty!!!0

Correct, that is already accounted for in your profile. My Nutritionist said we can only count exercise as exercise. Anything we do on a regular basis our body does not reconize as EXERCISE. But every movement we make burns calories so the more we move the more we lose!!!!0

Well, I'm going to consider it exercise! I'm all for multitasking. I'm walking away from the laptop now and not returning until I scrub something.0

Hmmm, so if I don't clean on a regular basis (sad, but true with my hectic schedule) then I can count my cleaning activities as exercise?? :laugh:0

I consider cleaning working out. You just have to make sure to keep moving so your heart rate stays up!0

I really think it depends on what activity level you set for yourself on here. I chose 'lightly active' because I'm a stay at home mom, so I cook, clean, chase children, and pretty much anything else that needs done. That being said, I only count the calories on like grocery day from lugging tons of groceries up the stairs, or hauling trash down the stairs, you know the not every day stuff.0

Seeing as my husband usually does most of the cleaning, it really is a workout when I clean. Especially when I do the laundry because I have to stand on my tip toes and catapult myself over the edge of the washing machine and TRY to get all the laundry out of the washer to put it in the dryer. It is one of the major disadvantages of having short legs and REALLY short arms.0

Cleaning definitely can be a work out, I spent a summer cleaning hotel rooms when I was in college and it was by far the most exhausting job I have ever had. But for me personally, cleaning my house is something that I have always done and I still managed to gain weight, so I don't count it, unless it is something like re-arranging that is something I hardly ever do. Anything else I figure is just a part of my daily activity.0

I haaaaaaaate cleaning, so I consider it a workout, lol. It's easier to do it, then if you feel like it's going to count.0

Sometimes when I drink too much coffee on the weekend I going into "clean everything like your on speed" mode. I cleaned everything from the carpets (deep clean + vac) to the windows (inside and out)...I think cleaning on crack could be exercise.0
