OH MY GOD! I get to start YEAH!!

My running partner of the day showed up today at 6 am. Today was long run day so we ended up going 10.3 mlies!! My longest so far. My running buddy tends to make my pace speed up....we did about a 745 pace and ended up 1 hour and 19 minutes. :noway: :noway: :noway:

Best part...other then that I actually finished....is the 1022 calories I burned.......OH WHAT SHALL I EAT TODAY!

Happy Running on the wonderful Saturday morning!!

I'm back from an awesome hilly 5 mile run! I ran w/ my cousin by her new house near a lake. It was so fun!! Now it's off to eat breakfast w/ my Dad & family... healthy choices for me of course!

    Great run, Ali!!

    Have a super Saturday!

Enjoy your run SM & whatever you decide to do Ali! :smooched:

We're heading up to the mountains this weekend so hoping for a lot of hiking!

    Enjoy your weekend, everyone! :flowerforyou:
  • Wow, it was hot out there. :noway: Got late start. 80 at 8AM when getting back.
I did 6.11 miles. I confused myself on the route though and thought it was my 6.4 route (was going for a 10k), if I had checked first I would have remembered to go up a certain street, but oh well. I averaged just over 12 minutes per mile. The first half is always slow, always up hill, and then I get a break and then up hill again. (not big hills, just continus for miles)

Today was really interesting though. The reason I got out later, I had bought one of those HRM watches. The first one (got last week) is ok for work outs, not a chest strap one, but the one I got today does have the chest strap, (Nike Imara) wow, it was almost exactly the same as what MFP said my calories were. My watch said I burned 811 :drinker:  calories and kept an average of about 158 heart beat and when I got home I just took a couple minutes off my time to get the same calorie count on the MFP site. I had also walked for 5 minutes so that could be why for the couple miniutes difference.

Nice to know how close it was and that my watch works great. It was only like 20 bucks on Ebay. Oh, and I think I lost a pound finally after nearly 3 weeks. Will double check though before changing weight.

Thanks, your so sweet for that. Enjoy your weekend, I wish I was going to the mountains to hike. I think we are trading in my daughters car though and just buying her a new cheap one. I got her a 95 BMW last year, but it is too much car for her and I think a new cheap car would be better for her, more reliable and not so exspensive to fix. Now that she is over hitting bike lane poles and backing into things. Year from hell I think is over with her learning to drive.
    Have Fun!:flowerforyou:

    Hello beautiful people!

I got my first 10 miles in today and I got heat exhaustion again. WTH!!
It was so hot outside. I did okay right up to 9miles then the last mile was hell! I don't think water is enough for me on my long runs.

Do you guys bring gatorade or those gel packs on the long ones? Do you feel a difference if you do?

    Hi runners,
Went out with my running club today and found another woman rehabilitatiing her knee so we walked together! Went an hour and feel good now! Tried running but my knee did not feel stable and it hurt!
Mirielle, the runner in my club that run long distance use powerbar gels, jelly beans etc that give them electrolites and sugar and some caffieine. They find that and water better than water alone or even sports drinks because you have to drink so much to replenish the sodium and electolytes that you lose. Maybe you could try them. I like the strawberry banana flavored gel

    Hey Mireille,
I use Clif Shot Blocks on my longer runs. I love the Shot Blocks. They are chewy and fruity tasting. I've tried the gel, but just didn't like it (although it would be better than nothing). A few times, we've taken Gatorade with us too. I don't really feel a rush or anything, but I've never gotten dehydrated when I've used them. People tell me you can actually feel the gel work. I agree that just water isn't enough when you go 10 miles or more (especially in the heat). Also, for me, I had to make sure I hydrate really well for a couple of days before a long run. I realized I wasn't doing that. I also drink a big (16 oz) glass of water just before I leave to go run. Then I drink something every twenty minutes or so during the run whether I think I need it or not.
Learning to hydrate properly has been a little tricky for me, so good luck to you!:drinker:

Thanks for all the congrats guys! There are only so many people you can tell you ran over ten miles that do not think you are insane

I have actually been good with the calories so far....had a big bowl of cereal for breakfast which I rarely do....Coco Pebbles...YUMMY. And the kids and I are staying at my parents tonight which means my daddy will make his famous popcorn....on the stove, in oil, with LOTS of butter. PERFECT END TO MY DAY....now if only the baby would fall asleep..

I have heard putting some water on your neck and such helps to cool you down. If it is heat exhaustion it is the heat that you're building up.. what temps were you running in today? Be careful!!

Today I ran 5.1 miles .. getting to my 10K!! yeah, tomorrow is my 5K Poker run!

    Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I'm going to head out to the running room today and purchase a few different things and see what works best for me.

    Thanks again!
