"Contemplations About Change: Let's Kick This Pig!"

Grrrrr......this morning was chaotic! Again my fabulous husband and I slept through the 5am alarm for our walking date we have committed to do at 5:30am. We were totally off schedule all morning, on top of that we had a visit from the social worker at 7:45am, kids were going in opposite directions, I was significantly late for work, and my so helpful husband who does as much (if not more) housework that I, put all the clothes away and I just couldn't find a thing this morning. After finally getting on the road, Rob takes one kid and I take the other, I realize that I forgot my work laptop--UGH! I called Rob to see if he could back track to pick it up for me. With such delight in his voice, he said sure. We decided to meet at the coffee house. Every quarter mile I drove I would remember something else I forgot and called him to see if he could add that to his list to pick up. And after the third phone call to tell him I forgot my wallet, the delight in his voice went to that sarcastic laugh as to say, "DEAR!" God I love that man for putting up with me!
We met,I picked up my laptop, and ordered my favorite: large-LITE-iced-vanilla latte. Boy did it taste fabulous. I am not a breakfast eater, I am a breakfast drinker! I would much rather drink those calories and enjoy every bit of the flavor. Problem is: minimal protein to sustain me the remainder of the morning. UGH! There is always a catch 22, it seems to be. I DID manage to remember my cheese stick on the way out of the house, so there I was driving down the road with my latte and my cheese stick. Then it dawned on me: what would my mornings be like if I PLANNED to be up earlier, DECIDED to eat a healthy, well-balanced breakfast? Go figure....I would be able to walk my 2 miles with my best friend, eat an egg with whole wheat toast....and after my exercise may be able to still drink my latte! Sounds so perfect in theory.....might just have to start actually DOING IT!
Change is something I crave in my life, but something I also fear. Daily changes that I control are usually the easiest and I welcome them eagerly, but lifestyle changes are the hardest and I often put up a fight (ask those closest to me! I am a bull dog when it comes to change!). Sleeping through that alarm clock, not eating my breakfast that I know in my head is an important step to weight loss are 2 HUGE lifestyle changes that I am resisting with every ounce of fight in me....but after thinking about it, it logically sounds like it would create a lot less chaos and much more progress that what I am currently doing.....hmmmmm.....as what my husband always declares as our family motto: "Let's Kick this Pig!"
