    hi there

youve come to a great place to get back on track....the only thing i can tell you, and this may sound corny, but everyday is a new chance to exercise, make good choices and do something good for you.....i am now in a big exercise mode and i walk on the treadmill/elliptical/track often....there is a track i walk on close to home that is very challenging, i can do a little over 2 miles....i can do an hour on the elliptical and the treadmill and i am always looking for awesome, new exercises.....find something that fits you, or just walk....walking is a great exercise that anyone can do....as far as food, dont beat yourself up.....you wont make great choices all the time, but try to choose wheat over white, and watch your sugar and fat.....each healthy choice adds up.....i wish you the best of luck and if i can be of help to you i am here....HUGS

The first thing I would do is completely clean out the fridge, freezer and pantry of all junk food or anything that is or could be a temptation (throw it away, give it away etc.) Then fill it with healthier options that you really like. For instance, I enjoy apples, so I bought the crispest, yummiest pink lady apples. Or the "alternative bagel" that is so hearty and delicious toasted with a tablespoon of low sugar jam, or sugar free jello puddings. the list is endless really. the point is to just get rid of the bad stuff and stock up on good stuff that you really like. If junk food isn't around you (and your family) cant eat it! Truly makes SUCH a big difference

Welcome! I'm fairly new to MFP, but i have found that when i make myself eat the banana, apple or carrot sticks first, I'm not going to eat as much of the junk food after ;) And logging everything and then seeing results is rewarding enough that you might actually learn to like not eating all the junk food nemore. Hope that helps some, and welcome :D

As I became more accustomed to eating less in general my gut shrank to a size appropriate for my body, so over eating anything is hard to do without my tummy feeling like I had a Thanksgiving dinner. I always try to eat my recommended calories after including my exercise for the day. Depending on how much flexibility is left in my log, I take a small portion of the yummy junk food I am craving and treat is as just that, a treat. It's easy to overindulge when you don't put what you plan to eat in a small bag or bowl. I also eat the treat slower than usual. The longer I can savor it the more I get out of it. If you do most of the shopping, disappoint your family and only pick up one treat for everyone to share. Then your whole family has no choice except to eat healthier food too. All of these tricks have helped m and my family.

I'm new too! Deficiencies aside, I have found sites like this make dieting more of a game then something that isn't fun. I have been hardcore dieting since January 8, 2011 and I've lost 40 lbs. What's great about weight loss is you have control and no one can take it from you. I just freakin' love it! Gym membership is a must as well! Welcome, I just joined this site too! It's the best one I've seen.
