ok so for a while i did jillian michels banish fat, boost metabolism, and then i figured since i have a hard time loosing in weight, id try the 30 day shred to loose in inches. well i only have a few more days left and it didnt do much, on most days i also did 30 min of zumba to get more cardio. just started doing that like a week or 2 ago.
anyway, i think i need to do more cardio because i feel i have more fat to loose before i try to tone it like u do with the shred.
so once the shred is done, i need a new routine. i might go back to the banish fat dvd but idk. i have a treadmill and rarely get to use it. im home with a 1 year old and she doesnt take a nap at a specific time or early in the day on some days and thats the only time i can use the treadmill, its in the laundry rm. so i focus on dvds, that way i can hang with her in the living room.
well hers the problem. i know there are alot of great dvds out there, but i cant buy anything thats 100 bucks,, or 50 for that matter.
i need a dvd that is like 10-25 bucks. im broke. lol
any suggestions?

Can you put the one year old in a pushchair and just get outside and walk several hours a day? That is great for fat loss.0

what a pushchair? is that a stroller? i wish i could but i cant really go outside for more then a few min at a time. im in fl and its like 90 here everyday and im not used to the heat at all. i cant take it. even in the am, its gross out. cant wait until i move back up north, i used to walk everywhere0 -
You should add some strength training days to your routine. If you can't afford to buy some weights (not barbie weights), do pushups (lots of variations), dips, squats, lunges, and lots of core work.
If you can get to a gym where you can do more lifting, that would be awesome.
Building muscle burns fat, period. Cardio is good for your heart, but to turn your body into a 24/7 fat-burning machine, you need muscle!0 -

Have you ever heard of Turbo Fire workout? It is by Chalene Johnson. There are workouts called HIIT workouts. They are ALL cardio and shed fat!!! The HIIT workouts range from 15-30 minutes. There are also other workouts that are from 25-60 minutes when you have time that are great Cardio workouts.0

yah thats what i heard thats why i did the shred cause its more strength with weights then anything, and i have no upper body strength so the dvd has been hard but i didnt see any change in inches or weight.0 -
I started doing a deck of cards workout once a week. You use a deck of cards to tell you what you should do. You can do pushups, pullups, crunches, lunges, squats, bicep curls, jump squats, burpees etc.
Just assign an exercise for each suit of the deck. Shuffle the cards and turn them over one at a time. You do whatever exercise you have assigned to the suit and do as many reps as the card is (jacks are 11, queens are 12 and kings are 13). Aces I use as a one-minute break.
Should take about 40 to 45 minutes to complete.0 -
I just started the Shred last week and actually gained a little weight but that seems to be the pattern with people who just start out with it which makes me feel a little better. I had some success right before my wedding in March just walking on the treadmill but at a 10 incline @ about 3.5-4.0 mph. It works up a great sweat and if you do that about 45 min a few days a week, you will feel a difference.
Also, I tried a Jillian Michaels treadmill (walk/jog) routine from Self magazine and loved that. Below is the link and time go fast as well which is always great!

I just gave this response in a different thread:
If you like step aerobics, Cathe's Intensity DVD is my current favorite - its got step, HiiT, and a boot camp. You can do them all together or there are several pre-mixes to choose from (or you can just pick and choose on your own). I haven't done the boot camp yet but it looks tough (it seems like HiiT with weights from what I've peeked at), but I've done the others and it's a very good workout.
I forgot to mention that a great site to shop for videos is http://www.collagevideo.com/. You can preview all the videos and there are usually tons of reviews. I hate wasting my money so the previews and the reviews are really helpful.
But also - you said something about wanting to lose weight before toning. I thought that too - I spent a year doing cardio only because I wanted to lose the fat first - it was my immediate goal. I really really wish I would have been strength training at the same time because I think I lost a lot of nice lean muscle along the way. So I would recommend doing videos that throw in some strength excercises with it. Some dvds that I love are from The Firm and also the one above that I mentioned (I just got that one a couple months agao, but love it just as much as my Firm videos). I especially like the firm videos that use the tall step because that tall step really helped strengthen my legs (plus the step really is fun for me). If you want to hear which Firm videos are my favs, let me know. They have a lot, and I like some better than others.

If you have a treadmill then use it!! I ran on the treadmill or elliptical for about 30-45 minutes a day along with 30DS. I dropped 10 pounds and lots of inches. I know that it is hard to find time to exercise when you have children. I have a two year old. I'm lucky if he'll let me get through my 15 minutes ab dvd. You have to make time plain and simple. I exercise right after I get off work for about 40 minutes before my son gets home and again when he goes to sleep. I'm doing P90X now and those are a good 75 minutes long on most days so i'm until 11 every night. If you want to drop that weight faster then jump on that treadmill girl..0

Netflix
ExerciseTV (cable OnDemand or online)
Thrift stores
I had a treadmill too - the dread factor was too much for me. I go between step aerobic & walking DVDs. There are so many excellent DVDs - it's hard to choose. You could spend a fortune and still not find what you like. I second the Collage Video website (TotalFitnessDVDs also). You can get a lot of information before committing.0 -
Check out www.bodyrock.tv she uploads new routines almost every day, and they are brutal! You will see results and it is all free. Don't hesitate to modify it for your fitness level, as it is super intense. When she uses a sandbag I usually use dumbells or do it without.0
