Ok, first off, I'm kind of a Geek when it comes to tech stuff. I get a newsletter called Lifehacker, and it gave a tip about a great website for music for working out, or for runners. I've adapted it for my elliptical workouts. It's called JOG.FM. You go to this site, register, and then set up a playlist based on long it takes you to "run" a mile. Or cycle a mile. Or in my case, go a mile distance on my elliptical. Then the site brings up a great list of music with the same Beats Per Minute, or BPM as you do in your workout.

You then can listen to the songs, and add the ones you want to your playlist, or purchase through Amazon.com or iTunes. When you get ready to run or workout, just login to JOG.FM on your smartphone, or computer if you'll be working out indoors, and start your playlist. Your ready to workout with music set to your tempo, and it won't slow you down! Or you can set your playlist at a little bit faster BPM, and try to improve your speed.

Best of all, this site is FREE! Give it a try.
