Okay so I just bought a Wii and Wii Fit plus last night and did my first trainer workout tonight. 35 minutes and my fit board said i burned 150 calories, but I was wearing my Polar F7 with chest strap and it calculated me at 281. What do I use, that is a HUGE discrepancy and I don't want to eat back more exercise points than I earned....HELP

Honestly, what I would do is go by the HRM, but only eat back half of my calories.
Wii just uses a simple formula, it doesn't calculate in your heart rate.

The game can only guess, so I would say go with the HRM seeing as that it's actually based off of YOU.

HRM wins by far in this situation... The wii doesn't know how tall you are or how hard you were really working.

I would use the hrm. I think the wii doesn't give enough credit on calories burned.

Thanks all who commented so far, I think I'll use the HRM but maybe not eat back the entire amount just to be safe

Have you done a caloric/metobolic test to see what your exact zones are? If not, then I would probably spilt the difference between the two. Most hrm use a generic scale based on body weight, and age, so unless it's set up to your personal stats, it won't be 100% accurate. Same with the Wii.

The wii is no more accurate than MFP (imo) because it's just a guess, whereas your HRM is calculating your actual heart rate! Go with the HRM and disregard what the wii says!

Also in my personal opinion, I wouldn't eat back any of the calories you burned. It will take back twice as long to lose the weight you want too. If you do that test that I mentioned, it will tell you how many calories you burn when your body is completly at rest, and what your daily goal intake should be to lose weight. Doing that test, and learning my zones changed my life. I workout for less time, burn more calories, and have lost 9 lbs in 2 weeks. That's after already losing 51lb without it. You may want to consider doing that. Good luck & enjoy that Wii!!

Do you know what this test is or who does it. I am being referred to an endochronologist tomorrow by my family doctor due to other health stuff I have (PCOS, hypothyroid, iron anemia, B12 deficient, family history diabedes, moderate cholesterol)...I would LOVE to find out I have plateaued for about 3 months now after losing the intial 14lbs.
