Elliptical Calories Burned Accuracy?

When I go to the gym, I wear a chest strap heart rate monitor and enter my age and weight into the machine before working out. The machine says I burn around 950 calories per hour. When I enter this into MFP, it tells me that 60 minutes on the elliptical should burn 1,061 calories. Which is the more accurate number?

  • Your HRM is the best bet.
  • That's what I thought. I've been playing around with the exercise portion of MFP and figured out how to manually override the number of calories burned. Thanks!

I go by the HRM also, but sometimes it is pretty close to what the machine reads.
