When I go to the gym, I wear a chest strap heart rate monitor and enter my age and weight into the machine before working out. The machine says I burn around 950 calories per hour. When I enter this into MFP, it tells me that 60 minutes on the elliptical should burn 1,061 calories. Which is the more accurate number?

Your HRM is the best bet.0

That's what I thought. I've been playing around with the exercise portion of MFP and figured out how to manually override the number of calories burned. Thanks!0

I have a heart rate monitor.. I always go by that rather then the machines reading..0

I go by the HRM also, but sometimes it is pretty close to what the machine reads.0
