Morning,
No run for me today.
Did a BodyAttack class at 6am this morning. Not bad but I found the movements a little boring.
Floors are ridiculously slippery, need to find other shoes with a non-slip sole.
Have a wonderful day!

Good morning!
I have Boot Camp tonight, so no run for me today.
Quick question ... I heard somewhere that it is not good to eat dairy before a run because it can upset your stomach. Well last I had a bowl of cereal before my 4-mile run (which was supposed to be 6 miles), and about a mile into it my stomach started churning. I barely finished the 4 miles. Do you think it really had something to do with the milk in my cereal or was it just an off day for me? I've eaten fairly normal this weekend.0 -
Good Morning!
I have my last Monday nite run with my training group before the race this weekend. Sad that I will not be seeing them anymore but happy to get one more race completed!
Alison, I avoid dairy before running as it always makes me cramp up. But it could be a combination of things that caused yours. My stomach always churns on long runs -- I think that kinda goes with the territory! To avoid cramping or nausea, I do best with a breakfast/energy bar (PowerBar Performance) or banana.
Mireille - BodyAttack at 6am!? ACK! What type of class is it?0 -
No run for me today, did my Core Synergestics workout. Will be running tomorrow.
Alison: I too avoid dairy before cardio exercise. I am lactose intolerant, so that has something to do with it. I prefer having half a protein bar before I run (a whole one if I am really hungry, but then I am really thirsty!)
Have a great day everyone!

According to Good Life it's a " high-energy sports-inspired cardio workout that builds strength and stamina".
There's a lot of squats, lunges, jumping jacks, push-ups and running in place (knees up). A few other moves but too hard to describe. lol I definitely got a good workout because I burnt 500 calories in 1 hour and my heart-rate went up as high as 174.

I warned you I did not like body attack, try body combat, it will work your abs more than you realize and it gets some aggression out!
Getting a late start today, getting on the treadmill right now and body pump tonight
Have a good Monday :drinker:0 -

The only things I eat before a long run is plain oatmeal and a banana. I haven't tried anything else and I'll make sure to stay away from dairy just in case.
I don't normally eat for runs under 6 miles. I find I run better on an empty stomach. Come to think about it when I ate breakfast on my 8 and 10 miles I got sick but when I ran my 9 miles I didn't eat and didn't get sick. Hmmmm...I wonder if that's my problem.0 -

I know, this class is hard to explain. Although you are working your butt off, it's a little boring. Weird!
Unfortunately, my gym only has BodyCombat once a week and I don't know if I can't make that time due to my hubby's work schedule. :indifferent:
What do you think of the BodyFlow and the RPM? I haven't tried those yet.0 -
Morning!
I have good news to report, I beat my time. I did 3 miles in 44 minutes!
Overall I did 3.32 miles in 50 minutes. It feels so good. The shins feel good today too!0 -
So, if I would have ran today I would have got washed away by all of the rain. So I went and got a great swim!0
-
Yeah, dairy can really upset your stomach. I usually try and eat a banana and drink half a gatorade before my run, at least 30 min. before!0

I like flow and rpm I haven't done yet. I think you just joined the gym? If so, what I like about these classes is they have new "rollouts" every few months so you are getting new moves and stuff. Keeps you from getting bored.0 -

Hello runners! No run for me today either, planning to run tomorrow AM! I did a new workout, Tony Horton's One on One Road Warrior this afternoon, wanted to try it out. And will do Chest & Back (P90X) w/ my dh tonight... pushups & pullups!
I don't do well w/ dairy before a run either. I don't drink milk, only soymilk as regular milk gives me tummy issues no matter when I drink it! I do eat yogurt and cottage cheese w/out any trouble, but not before a run! I usually run so early that I often either just eat a banana or for longer runs will eat a fat burning Access bar (Melaleuca). I don't have time to wake up, digest, and then run. I'm usually up & out the door w/in 15 min.

I have joined. I just wish childcare was included in the membership fee. I guess they have to get you every way possible!
I can't wait to do the cycling class.
Thank you so much for your thoughts on the classes!

Sadly, after going to a doctor to "be sure" about my foot, they took x-rays and said i have a little inflamation in there. Nothing serious, but I need to stop running and take some light OTC anti-inflamitory medication for a few weeks. *Sigh* looks like it's all recumbant bike and eliptical for me for a few weeks. Drat! Foiled again!0

Way to go Lina. There are days when we have bad runs and then days that make it all worth it!0 -
I find I perform better if I have something to eat about 1 or 2 hours before a run, some slow releasing energy food like pasta. I also agree, banana is a safe bet, excellent energy food and natural !
Still buzzing from my 1hour long run yesterday, decided to go for another half hour today, didn't push it too much though as my knees were feeling a bit painful from yesterday.
Any tips on what to do about joints pain ? Knees, hips ? Apart from taking it slow and having a rest wich is what I intend to do tomorrow.
Thanks.0 -
Good evening runners.
PMKelly409, Good luck on your run. Sad to see your friends go I know, but the good news is you have done what you were supposed to do.:drinker: Oh and everyone has so much good advise for you, you will do great.
Banks sorry to hear about your foot. Wishing you speedy recovery.:flowerforyou:
As for me, I knew I wouldn't get a chance to run this morning, so I did the treadmill last night for a little while. 3.25 miles and 400 calories according to my new HRM. My treadmill was off and said almost 450, but I think I will go with the watch, seems to be more like what MFP says also. I think I will just do my regular work out tonight, stretches, crunches, punches etc.
I may be on the recovery list sooner than planned myself. I had to call my doctor because one of my expanders (that they pump up) seems to be leaking. I am like a large D on one side and a large B or a small C on the other. And it seems to be getting smaller. So When I go in Thursday, they may just schedule my final reconstruction operation sooner. That really works for me, I wanted it done as soon as possible so I would be good for my Hawaii trip in December and done with recovery.
Wish me luck!

So late to post again.. but you know the time differences well.. makes a difference.
I ran the 5K Poker run, pair of 5s... not much so nope, didn't win that! Oh well... 32 min on the run.. not what I was hoping for but my first one in a lOOOOONNNNGGGG time so good baseline.
I did a spin class to really tucker myself out and got some excellent sleep!!

Well think that is great time:drinker: . Sorry you didn't win, but I bet it was a blast all the same.0 -
Margarita -- yeah.. it was and now I have a baseline so I am happy for that... was dehydrated too, so that wasn't too good -- pounding headache afterward a good tell-tale sign. BUT we have a 5K coming up for September 11th Rememberance so, I'll keep ya posted on that one!
Believe it or not I was 2nd to last in the race.... most completed in 29 think that is why I felt poorly about it, even though personally it was an alright time. (military folks - shesh competitive!!) :laugh:0
