Hey all, I'm wondering if any of you guys have tips for healthy lunches. I work a lot and am usually at work around lunchtime and beyond. It's hard for me to stick to the diet at this time. I try bring a small snack and eat after at home, but then I find I'm so hungry that i end up snacking on things i shouldn't.. Sandwiches I know really aren't that great for you, and being 22 and still in college, I'm on a limited budget. Also, on that note, any good websites you know of with healthy recipes, that don't taste healthy? haha :) I live with my longtime boyfriend who naturally doesn't worry about healthy eating! Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks everyone!

How about homemade vegetable soup, you can make a big batch and divide into portions, yummy and filling x

  • There are quite a few ways to make sandwiches work.. sandwich thins work as bread.. and are really low in carbs and high in fiber, also deli folds are good. You can do wraps (just read the label carefully on those) you can always do a chef salad?? easy and fast. Try not to keep to many snacks around, even if they are only 100 calroes each, if you eat 4.. not the best plan ( as I know from experience  ) Pack a lunch box each day, or the night before, with everything you will eat for the day and make sure to have something high protien, maybe some almonds or other nuts, to eat before you head home so you wont be famished.

i have been taking salads and a tin of tuna or chicken to work. Have been adding a little low fat feta to the salad. Have been filling me up. I usually take fruit as a snack as well. Low cals, low carb and lean protein, with a little fat in the cheese

what do you do for work and how long of a lunch do you get?

hungrygirl (google search) has some cool recipes for "junk" food swapping

for lunch, thankfully, I work at a place that has a cafe - salad bar BUT also pizza and sandwich bar too lol
yesterday I got my salad and passed by the pizza, the baked ziti, the wonderful sandwiches and chips!
oh and the chocolate mousse lol its HORRIBLE :)

Anyway - I love salads for lunch! all kinds of salads!

sometimes at lunch I will grab a bag of salad (loose leaf lettuce) of my choice and a pouch of tuna or salmon, add it to the salad and some dressing and that is a huge salad for under 200 calories.

or I will get a thomas thin sliced bagel, pack it with 50 calories worth of delifresh chicken (50 cals for 6 slices) and some tomatos and mustard - so good and heavy :)

OR call up the chinese place and ask for steamed chicken and brocolli and put some HOT MUSTARD on it 8)~ my favorite....I think I may do that today lol

I eat a sandwich every day because it is so easy. The key for me is to get a really good bread. It has to be 100% whole wheat! Make sure that there is NO corn syrup in it and that if their is sugar it is not one of the first 5 ingredients! (really check the ingredients, sometimes it can de deceiving!!!!) Also look for one that only has about 70 calories per slice. We eat Natures Pride 100% whole wheat, 70 Cals a slice. When you pick your meat go for lower sodium, thin n' trim is a good brand. For Cheese use low cal, less then 90 Cals. Then put a lot of veggies in it so you can get your servings in. I go between using light mayo and mustard on my sandwiches. It should fill you up and since you are using whole wheat you should stay full for longer. Hope this helps.

I like sandwiches (made with cooked chicken or turkey breast, not deli meats), bagged salads, soups, leftover vegi's, etc.
