If so how often do you go? How much do you pay? Does anyone know how much they are at fitness world?

I have a trainer and LOVE her. I really don't think I'd be where I am without her. I have been doing 2 private sessions per week (she comes to my house, so I have NO excuse!). She is $40 an hour if I buy in blocks of 10 hour sessions.
Starting Monday, we are changing things up a bit, and I'll be doing a group boot camp with her 1 day per week and then 1 private session. The boot camps are $85 for the eight week session.0 -
Yes I do. Mine focuses more on weight training. Mine is $100 for 3- 1 hour long sessions. I go to SNAP Fitness.0

Personal trainers are great. I have no experience working with one, but my coworker lost about 50 lbs working with one over a 6 months period. The trainer really kept her in line and accountable for coming to the gym. I believe rates are around $50/ hour.0

Oh! I'm also interested in finding out the usual rates for trainers...0

I just recently got a personal trainer. I love it. She programmed one specifically for my body and the time I have in a day. Then showed me how to do all of them. They included both machine workouts and ones that you could do at home. I pay $55 per hour, and I will start seeing her every 2-3 weeks from now on. But it all depends on how self-motivated you are to do the exercises and how well you pick them up.0

Yep, love him (don't ever tell him I said that though ) I go on Wednesdays and Fridays for 30 minutes each, and i am dripping with sweat! He truly pushes me past anywhere I would push myself. I got 25 30 minute sessions for $575 at my gym. When i was at ballys they wanted $ 874 for 16 hour sessions. I am not sure I could do an hour the 30 minutes is erfect now. I would find out if your gym has anytype of trial sessions because trainers all have different appraoches and you have to find one who you like and understands your goals. I got very lucky with mine (even though i call him many names while we are working out)0

It depends on where you live. I found mine on Craigslist. She charges $35 per hour and I work out with her twice a week. She also logs in here and comments on my food choices, etc. I have seen some who charge $200 or $250 per month and they usually give you a discount if you work out with a buddy and they can train you together. This is a first for me, I have always done this alone but I had no motivation and figured if I had to meet someone, I would be more likely to go. I am TRYING to get in 1 to 2 workouts on my own weekly in addition to this but rarely succeed. What I like about using a trainer is that they are beside you the whole time and vary the workouts. Instead of just machines, she has me doing a lot of free weights, floor exercises, etc etc. I realize I spent more per hour than this when I remodeled my house so why isn't my body and health worth it? That is how I justify the expense to myself.0

I'm a trainer in my area, Roswell, NM... My clients usually pay $300 for 10 sessions spaced out throughout the month or $250 flat monthly rate when signed up for 3 months +... I am not sure what Fitness World has to offer, all gyms are different based on population and demand for that particular area. Hope this helps!0

Yep, and have had one for 5 years.
I see him once a week, for a packed hour of weight training. He gives me a smokin' deal at $30 a session. Usually, I'd say it's more like $60-$75.
He's irreplaceable. Pushes me on the weights because I would totally slack off if not for him.0 -
I belong to 24 hour fitness and I do have a personal trainer. I do 3 sessions a week for 50 mins and I have to say they are directly linked to my success thus far!! My trainer is way more than someone who kicks my butt in the gym; he also makes me accountable and pushes me more than I could ever push myself. He's there to answer any questions I have or calm any fears that creep up. I buy my sessions in packages so its a little cheaper. Most gyms should have their training prices available on their websites. Personal training can be expensive, but to me it is worth every penny!!!!!!0

I've previously worked with a personal trainer. I went once a week and the cost was $55 per one hour session. I'm now going to take an over 40 boot camp style class directed by a trainer. The class will be held twice a week, an hour each session for a total of four weeks. My cost is $96. I'm also doing group training for a 5K race with a personal trainer at the wellness center to which I belong and my cost is nothing. This class is weekly for 8 weeks and each class is 60 minutes. In the small town from which I moved four years ago personal training is going for $35 an hour. I've heard in larger cities like New York you may pay as much as $125-$150 an hour for a personal trainer. The cost depends on the local in which you live. I would definitely recommend a trainer if you can afford it.0

I do the same thing he usually just laughs at me. Espically the time i tried to offer to buy him beer so we could stop early, that was during my running up and down stairs0 -

Ohh..I should try that sometime! Not like it would work...0 -
It was nice reading this thread, I often think of trainers as useless other than if you want them to give you a weight-lifting schedule/plan if you are unfamiliar with the machines so it was interesting how many people love their trainer. I won a certificate for 1 hour worth $65 that I will use in May but I don’t know how much will be accomplished since I have no intention of buying more (it’s not my gym, it’s a gym downtown near my office).
Since I started my gym membership Dec 31, 2010 I still have $300 in personal fitness credit my company will pay for, for 2011 so perhaps I should get some PT sessions once I lose a full 5 lbs and need to be pushed to my final goal, another 4lbs of fat, more toned body.
I have a free PT session at my gym as well so at least I’ll be able to determine if I like the person and if we have the same plan for my goals.0 -
I don't have one and am considering getting one. What is sad is that I definitely have the knowledge and background to work myself out I just think I could push myself harder.0

I've been working with a personal trainer twice a week since November. We started off with the 25-minute sessions and just this month I moved up to the 50-minute sessions. I bought a big package and so got a good deal of less than $50 per long session.
It's kinda funny, I never thought I'd be the type to like working with a personal trainer, but I absolutely love mine now. She is amazing. It's not even the motivation and pushing me to do my best that's made such a difference; it's the confidence she has helped me to find. She's shown me that I'm capable of doing things I never even thought possible.
When I first started my getting healthier and weight loss journey I just wanted to not be obese anymore. My big goal was to get down to 175 and then re-evaluate to see what I wanted from there. It seemed so far away that I couldn't even think beyond that about getting to a "healthy" weight. This week I reached 179, and I know I can get to a healthy weight. My goal now is to get to between 145 and 150. I think it would have taken me a lot longer to get there mentally without the support and encouragement of my trainer.
So, if you are thinking about it, give it a try. It definitely depends on finding the right fit though. Some of the other trainers I've seen working at the gym would not have done nearly as well for me.0 -
I love my trainer! I have been with her for a year and 2 months now. When I renewed I paid the full year (tax returns) which was 2400 for 104 - half hour sessions or 2 a week ($23 a session). Some times we double up and do 1 hour instead of 2 hour sessions but we have also started going to yoga together outside the gym. She keeps me on track because I have no problem doing cardio on my own and everyonce in awhile core but I tend to think I just don't have time for weights so when I have something scheduled with her I know I will be getting a good work out and she is always mixing things up and introducing new exercises into the routines. She is also one of my biggest cheerleaders.
Also it is great having it on your schedule for when you get sick or are on vacation and can't get to the gym for like a week. You know you will have to get back if you are paying for sessions.0
